Contrary to a couple of opinions expressed here, Englishman's board closed due to a decision to move away from XJW'ism and boards in general, allowing more time for "real life" and family. I agree that admin'g any board requires a significant time commitment and isn't for everyone.
Happily, there remain plenty of alternatives for the kind of xjw board membership that WWW offered, specifically less restrictive moderation and less focused on doctrinal matters. I'll miss WWW because of the unique assembly of personalities constituted by the membership. -

DID ANY OF YOU actually bring anybody into "the truth" from scratch?
by journey-on inin all my years of jwing, i never actually brought anyone up to the stage of baptism.. i had bible studies occasionally, but they usually fizzled out after a while.
i can't think.
of more than a small handful of witnesses that ever actually got a study from door-to-door.

Sadly, my now dead husband.
Funny, just last week I was clearing out some boxes and found his copy of the NWT. My heart was heavy with guilt as I read his annotations on the filler pages, short phrases or even just one word with a scripture.
I found the courage to throw it away. To me, it was a way of letting myself know I didn't have to keep that reminder of my misguided actions anymore. Guess I finally feel I've paid my retribution somehow.

April 25th is World Malaria day. There is a worldwide campaign to deliver enough anti-malaria nets to needy families to eradicate malaria. A child dies every 30 seconds of malaria in Africa alone. That is a shocking statistic that is so easily remedied.
Malaria is both preventable and treatable. For $10, a family can receive an anti-malaria net and instruction on how to properly use it. The UN Foundation is working with a number of partners to make this happen. If you choose to donate $10, 100% of your donation will go to providing a net. ZERO percent to the dreaded "administrative overhead".
Please join me in this simple but significant endeavor. Ten bucks, people.
