  One elder I showed it to basically said that either I am lying or even if all the documentation was true that it was just a mistake.

  It is like trying to convince a brick wall...

  the couple that my mr.horton and i had been studying with when we were considering going back to the truth finally got ahold of him.

  It seems extremely unethical for anyone to try and tell a minor to go against the wishes of their parent/guardian. Of course, JWs have this doctrine nailed into their head that equates witnessing with life-saving measures so they are happy to use tactless measures like encouraging disobedience to parents...

  I can imagine how it would feel if I were a parent and someone who was Catholic or Muslim came to my door and told my children to ignore me and go to some house of worship.

  I remember when I crying to my mom that I had all these questions about the whole JW religion that the WTS publications weren't answering, she replied that "you think too much". She didn't mean it in a mean way but it was like in a cartoon when someone gets the lightbulb over their head; I couldn't believe that the religion had convinced her that if a question or situation wasn't answered by the WTS properly then it meant that I was thinking too much.

  moments befor the bomb blast, attendees were instructed to turn to John 3:16. This is a well known scripture. Those who obeyed had their heads down and were reading it (for the 5,9847563938 th time) when the bomb went off, and as a result the 'blast path' went over their heads. Those who chose to resist by not looking up a scripture because "they had done it so often before"....well, you know.

  Anyone raised a Witness and broke free?

  hello, my name's daniel and i'm new to the forum.... i was raised a witness for the first 14 years of my life and then finally got out when my dad turned atheist...i live in ottawa, ontario of canada... i'm 21 now... still kind of unaccustomed to the world at large, if you catch my drift.

  Hi Daniel, welcome to the forum! Yea, I finally severed all ties to the WTS last year and I had been totally raised as a JW...really hard to do also. I still have the strong feeling that I am not part of society and yet I am definitely not wanting to become a witness again.

  Depressing Answer: I would be myself...except, I would of never been associated with JWs in anyway.

  Fantasy Answer: I would be a billionaire...hell, with that kind of money, all the other fantasies I could have would easily fall into place.

  Do jws evangalize people on fringe of society?

  I do remember that a few brothers & sisters in cities like NYC would do street ministry to addicts & homeless...even study with them. Of course, they didn't bring them to the hall because that would be a REALLY bad decision :|.
  
  Overall though, JWs rather focus on easy conversions then on those who most need help.

  i'm not sure if this can be called "molesting"... "seducing" would be a better term. why didn't anyone do that to me?
  
  there IS a difference between a man harming a little girl and a woman seducing a little boy.

  Seduce, molest, it is all the same...this is a disgusting act and mentally scarring for the child. To even wish for something like this to happen to you when you were a kid shows that you probably don't have kids/nieces/nephews... (BTW, I guess you were joking but it is a really bad joke)

  When You Went Thru The Baptism Questions Did You Understand It All?

  I definitely didn't have an understanding of the baptismal questions and my studying last year drove that fact home. I just couldn't believe how I never picked up on how different the tone & manner of baptism with the WTBS is from the example Jesus set forth for his followers in the bible. I also went through the 55 or 60 questions from the OM book with the elder that I studied with...seems like a blur now and it was a blur then.

  I do remember telling the elder that I felt uncomfortable with my knowledge of the scriptures & doctrines. In fact, the reason I didn't get baptized before I was 16 was because I felt I didn't have a grasp on all the knowledge involved in becoming a witness...but the elder just assured me that being a witness was a "lifelong learning experience". Boy, if I had just went with my instincts and held off...
