i saw a little shop in the mall today with that name on the front.
it said something about them having food for the body and soul.
i didn't have time to stop in to see what it was about, but the next time i go there i will check it out.
Never heard of it, but I'm eager to hear what it's all about. Please do post back!

i confronted my bro.
in law on why the co's assistant would accuse me of being on the "bad" internet web sites.
he has admitted telling the co guy because he wants to help me.
Hi Integ,
Like so many others have already said, I too have been waiting with anticipation for the outcome of your story. It sounds like you're on the right path.
I'll lose friend's, and they will be hurt by this, but maybe it could serve as an impetus for them to look at what's going on, and make the right move for themselves.
I agree exactly. When a person chooses not to be a part of the organization anymore, it's as if he stands in front of the congregation and declares, "Upon serious consideration, I have come to believe firmly that this is not God's organization." I always hold out hope that this vote will affect someone, even if it is only one vote that regisiters subconsciously. You never know how your stand may affect others.
Keep it up!

ah........christianity at it's best!.
http://www.witnessinc.com.. if you go to this site above......you will see this is a site maintained by former jw duane magnani.. on his page of what the "true gospel" is.......and what a"true christian" is.......he plainly states that if you do not believe jesus is god himself.........you have nothing.
he even proves all his points by cherry picking known modern scholars who will back him up!
When I first got out of the organization, I looked up a few friends that I knew in high school. It turned out that one of them, "Joey," lived up here in the Seattle area. When Joey and I got together for coffee, I learned that he had gone from being a confirmed atheist when I last knew him to a fundamentalist Christian now. As Gretchen mentioned, he had experienced a euphoric conversion moment that had changed his outlook permanently. He described the experience as feeling "truth," saying that he instantly understood the concept of grace. Although I am inclined to look for rational, humanistic explanations for such phenomena, I don't denegrate his experience.
I would have been more compelled, however, if he weren't so judgmental of those who didn't share his experience. Like so many of the zealous Christian types who feel the burning need to make the case for the Trinity lest we all be damned to eternal torment, it was impossible for him to accept that someone might simply not be convinced. After four hours' discussion, he resigned himself to my eternal cutting off, wished me a good day, and went on his way.
I agree with the religion as opium analogy, but I also find that it often compels people to believe things that even they do not want to believe. It certainly feels so much more refreshing to use one's own brain to decide what is and is not rational.
Picard is in all things and through all things and for all things. Amen.

hopefully not too many cows caught bse from this cow, and moreso any humans.. .
but i do think that this is kinda of a payback to the canadians.. .
we had one cow in alberta that had bse, and the us along with many other countries banned all canadian beef.
I'm just glad to be a vegetarian.

even when i was a jw, i enjoyed hearing holiday music.
some of it is religious, some of it is just "holiday cheer" music.
but it's fun to listen to, and sometimes those songs just stick in your head.. do you have any particular favorites this time of year?.
My favorite holiday song has got to be Greensleeves. I know, technically, it's a political song, but they always play it at Christmas.
Man, what a great song!

i have just read a thread by sis in distress that contains a letter to the wt asking for information on the wt being an ngo.
this thread was logged on the 20 december 03. i thought the wt was kicked out of participation in the un a while ago.. .
what is the real status of the wt with respect to the united nations?
Hello Phil,
You're right - it exited voluntarily in October 2001, quite a ways back. The letter was supposedly from an elder discussing continued fallout from the news of the involvement. However, some posters indicated that they had doubts as to the authenticity of the letter. The involvement with the UN is not in doubt.
Hope that helps.

in short......i am surprised of the organisations involvement with the u.n......had the damaging effect to the degree that it did......upon those who learned of it.. when the 'generation change' occured in 94', i thought there would be a bigger fallout.
when the voting issue happened, i thought it would cause quite a stir.
with "dateline" and "fifth estate" uncovering child molestation issue among jehovah's witnesses....i thought many would fall out.. what gets me is the amount , that were effected by the u.n. scandle.
Wednesday and any lurkers: Your statement fits me exactly. I never read any apostate literature - not on a single occasion - until after I had determined that the organization was bunk. The "apostate literature," or more accurately, the true accounting of facts, that I read afterward helped clarify things in my own mind and exposed me to much information that I did not have.
It was kind of like me pulling up the curtain a little bit and seeing enough to know I needed to make a change, and then someone just dropping the curtain altogether to show me the true extent of the problems.

I didn't find out about the UN involvement until after I was already out, but I think that if I had been in, I would not have believed it. The thought is to absurd. It would be like telling me that the Witnesses in Russia join the army. Laughable.
Of course, if someone gave me hard evidence for it, I would be forced to consider it, I suppose. But based on my pattern of action, I think it would probably have been a heavy weight stacking against the organization in my subconscious. On the surface, I literally was strong-strong-strong-strong-strong-OUT.

can someone give me a sensible explaination as to why the jw's have banned beards?
i was df'd in '90 just as this was becoming a big deal and at the time i thought it was completely rediculous what with jesus probably having a beard.
it was one of the many things that led me to seeing that the gb make arbitrary rules and that the organisation has more to do with control than religion.
In my experience, the explanation has always been tied to the ministry - we want to present as clean an image as possible. I always pointed out when reasoning on this issue (in favor of the WT stand, of course) that American politicians almost never have beards. Why? Because they want to make sure they get the votes of everyone, even the people with a reaction against beards.
However, in the minds of Witnesses, whatever reasonableness is here seems to become hardened into a superstitious fear. My friend told me that when he began to grow a beard lately, a person at the hall took him by the arm and implored, "Brother, stay in the Truth." Similarly, my old roommate came by my house last week to finish some work he started a while back, and although he didn't make conversation with me, he was visibly shocked by my goatee.
JWs: it's facial hair. Grow up.
