  the 12 tribes are taken form the 12 tribes of Israel.

  Actually the JWs teach that this part is symbolical since the list of the 12 tribes in Revelation is different than the OT lists. How they can say part of the chapter is literal and part is symbolical is unexplainable.

  i was talking to my twin sister tonight on how i didn't want to go to the upcoming convention this weekend because we had already been to it 2 months ago... .

  i have to prepare some audition matrial for a arts event and my parents are not sympathtic to the fact i got allot to do, and we've already been.

  This is emotionally abusive. Is there any way you can get counseling?

  I strongly disagree with Emma on this. Denouncing what you know of a families parenting tactics from a couple post on a DB as "emotionally abusive" is way overboard. If the parents are providing a loving environment and choose to be protective of their children that is far from "emotionally abusive" and does not mean that the child needs counseling.

  SC seems to be very cognitive of his parents tactics and what his role is and what he can and can't do.

  when i was studying[ but baptised ]at my home some 20years ago ,with an elder from our hall, i asked him a question about christians wearing a cross .to me it was a symble of rememberence,a sacrafice.

  i asked why jws dont, or wont wear a symble of jesus dieing on a stack either on their neck or in their home ,a symble of rememberence?

  his reply was" if a loved one died in a car accident would you wear a rememberence of the car around youre neck?

  As still pointed out, its a personal choice, unless you're a JW then it is a mandated choice and you have to feign a personal conviction on it. To be honest though, I never had a problem with the societies viewpoint on it. The only problem I had was that you weren't allowed to disagree with that opinion.

  SC_guy, I really feel for you. It is commendable that you are so thoughtful of others to continue to make sacrifices for them. There has been some good advice here, but as everyone else says it is going to be up to you.

  For starters, I would definitely avoid getting baptised. If they push you, point out to them that baptism is the most important decision of your life, MORE IMPORTANT THAN MARRIAGE! Tell them you do not feel mature enough to get married yet and you definitely don't feel old enough to get baptised. Also tell them that you think Jesus waited until 30 for a reason, and it certainly wasn't because he was lazy and didn't get around to it then.

  Did God create man to live forever?

  dubs always point back to genisis as a last resort and say ....well he created them to live forever, it was his original purpose.. where does it say that?.

  genisis says that they were to multiply and fill the earth not that they would live forever.

  if they were to live forever what was the tree of life for?.
