What do I have to say about it? I have to say that the WT reels in a buttload of money and they obviously have some shrewd financial guys with loose consciences that help them make that money. What does this have to do with how the GB members live? Again, I have seen how they live, so if you want to convince me otherwise, you will need to have a little more proof than the fact that the Non-profit organization brings in a lot of money.

What does this have to do with jacks*&t? I know I've wasted plenty of my life in the WT org. I've also wasted plenty of my life on other stupid endeavors as well. I assume since you feel compelled to throw that in your post (despite it's irrelevance) that your life has been completely productive and only been a benefit to the rest of mankind. Speaking of which, why are you wasting your time on this list, you have never been a JW and don't seem to be planning on joining. You seem to already know everything about JW's, so why waste your time here? There's plenty of other religions to study as well. Feel free to move on at anytime.

If you don't mind jumping to unsubstantiated conclusions, go right on ahead. The fact of the matter is, I don't know why they went there and you don't know why they went there, so no use in pretending we do. But I'm certainly not going to proclaim that the WT is using their donations to send the GB on fishing trips because I have nothing to back that up.

Gerard, thank you for the information, but I'm not sure of it's relevance. No one can deny that the WT brings in a good chunk of change. Yet you have not shown that this has anything to do with what a JW's motives are (particularly the GB.) They own a jet, big deal...

Their destination, Tuntutuliak, Alaska is located 440 miles west of Anchorage with one well known activity : Salmon fishing.
Think of them having fun with their luxurious airplanes next time you go out on the field or send them your money!

Nice bit of speculation there. Are you saying that they flew up there to go Salmon fishing? How do you know that?

None of this shows that the GB are profiting off this non-profit organization. I have no proof one way or the other, except for my personal experience of seeing how one of them lives, and it seemed no different than any of the other 3,000 other volunteers there.

I am here to understand the cult better so I asked why they waited to condemn those elder-thieves when they seemed to have a law of their own - apart from the judiciary system -for every case and fault.

In that case, a JW judiciary committee is only supposed to take action if there are two witnesses to the fault. If they are not aware of two witnesses, but the court system brings out "two witnesses" then I imagine they could then DF the person. That would be my guess as to what happened, but it is only a guess.

I think that most of them fully believe in what they do. They turn a blind eye to things that might normally trigger there thought processes. Why do they do this? I would guess a mixture of power (as others have said) and success.

In success I mean that it is very easy to be a successfull JW. It is not hard at all to "climb the ladder." You can be very unsuccessful in life, but very successful as a JW. And along with that comes the power, reverence, authority, self-esteem, etc as others have pointed out.

Is this entirely bad? I'm not sure it is for everyone. I'm sure there are a number of JWs, publishers, MS, and Elders that benefit from a boost to their self-esteem and it might even make them better fathers, husbands, sons, etc because of this confidence. I'm sure there are a number of JW's that would be complete losers in society if it wasn't for "the truth."

The flipside is, of course, you get a lot of bad elders, power abusers, guys who completely miss the point of what they are "supposed" to be doing.

So are you saying they should be doing the same with every case? I would think it should be the other way around where you would want them to STOP acting as the investigators and DO things like letting the courts take action.

Or are you saying that since they mishandle child molestation cases that they should be consistent and mishandle all cases? I'm confused.

Very true. But, in child abuse cases, maybe they ought to leave a bit more to the authorities and a bit less to themselves in the way of investigation.

Although off topic, I couldn't agree more. Hopefully that is the way things are headed.

Many of the GB live quite well actually. There was a thread recently talking about how they owned private jets and got to travel all over.

There is nothing low about that standard of living.

There is nothing high about there standard of living either. At least not while I was at Bethel. I only saw one of GB's room, but it was the same size as my friend who lived right next to them. And it wasn't "one of many" you could tell it was full-time occupied by two old people.

I couldn't find any threads on private jets, but I would be hard pressed to believe this without some serious evidence. At best, I would guess that the WT might own a private jet that it uses to fly people around in. But that is quite different from the GB owning their own private jets. There is nothing unusual about a corporation the size of the WT to own a corporate jet or at least a time share of one.

When they travel, they stay at five-star hotels, eat in the best resturants, purchase the services of the most sophisticated ~~prostitutes~~, um, escorts. And I'd say they have their own private jets. Don't know that for a fact, but with their income and rate of travel, it makes sense.

Is this all complete speculation? Or are there actual reasons why anyone should believe this? Those are serious accusations. I would hate for someone to publicly state that Francois hires hookers ever chance he gets, especially if it wasn't true.
