  Can the Governing Body be called a "KILLER CULT?

  in 1993 david koresh led more than eighty branch davidians to their deaths in waco texas.. in 1978 some nine hundred followers perished in a mass suicide in jonestown,guyana,under the command of their cult leader,jim jones.. these events sparked great media attention because of their sensational nature,and because so many deaths occurred at once.. but another cult has,over the years,sacrificed untold thousands of lives.these deaths occurring quietly and one at a time,has so far escaped large - scale scrutiny.. more children are dying right now,in obedience to the governing body's ban on blood transfusion,than perished in the fire at waco.this enforcement on blood transfusions reaches into clinics and hospitals.. the governing body instructs jw's.

  who are employees in ciinics and hospitals to turn over information from confidential patient records to them.. they also conduct bedside trials of members who accept forbidden medical treatments.they even instruct parents to kidnap their children from hospital beds,and children themselves to resist doctors violently and to give false testimony in court.. how can a major religion headed by a governing body quietly lead victims to early and needless deaths without a public outcry?.

  would you say that the governing body of jehovah's witnesses can be called,or are, a "killer cult".. blueblades

  i would say so, yes. not only because given the right circumstances they will let themselves die because of their 'belief' but also because they will let their children die because of the same 'belief'.

  i do think that anyone who's got enough faith to die for their belief deserves an amount of respect, even if they are just plain ignorrant, at least they had the integrity to stand their ground, but a person who lets their child die, as jw's do, that's another story and those are actions that i would associate with a killer cult.

  it never ceases to amaze me what a bunch of lunatics these people are, to non jw's this sort of article must read like a foreign langauge, the stuff they come out with is so irrational. i mean come on, if someone called you 'evil slave' would you take them seriously or just laugh? i would be in hysterics.

  i just had an hour-long phone interview that went very well, and i'll be going in for an in-person interview on tuesday.

  What is "Faith"?

  so many times the word "faith" is touted around, especially in debates concerning "blind faith" (and usually levelled at "believers"), but what is it really?.

  heb 11:1 defines it as follows:"now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  my understanding of the word, not really based on any scriptures.

  faith is when though you have questions, you have enough trust not to need all of the answers.

  to me this applies to almost every type of faith, be it in god, in a friend, in a partner, in a parent etc.

  Scientists at Roll Royce built a gun specifically to launch dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, and military jets, all travelling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.
  American engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high speed trains.

  Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the American engineers. When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's backrest in two and embe dded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.

  The horrified Yanks sent Rolls Royce the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the British scientists for suggestions.

  Rolls Royce responded with a one-line memo:

  i think i used to just dream of the freedom of being able to wander around on a natural world, i still dream about this, and also as a kid i used to dream about catching tigers, but the jw idea is that wild animals are tame and i found that very off putting.

  DH. You qualify to become a member if you choose. Youve had the same dreams, hopes, expectations, and pains of jws like yourself. There exists a bond bewtween us that is why we are on this board with other jws because we can relate to each other.

  last night, on the discovery channel, they interviewed a researcher who analyzed a scrap of papyrus that recorded revelation.. he contended that the critical passage of the "number of the beast" actually read 616 in greek, not 666. he tried to apply.

  this to caligula thru numerology.. i had never heard of this variant reading before.. .

  hey fearno, i was a jw from birth to 18-19 years old. i don't feel any bond towards other jw's though, not like a general bond, i feel a bond toward certain individuals, some who were jw's, some who have never had anything to do with jw's, i think the only unique thing that we all (ex jw's) share, is that we have common ground when it comes to having been jw's at some point in life, other than that, i think we're no different to the rest of mankind.
