  DNA - belief destuction

  the single largest reason to decimate my belief in jw?s and all biblical faith occurred when i discovered some facts about our cells.

  specifically a part of the cell called mitochondria.

  mitochondria are sometimes described as "cellular power plants" because their primary purpose is to manufacture adenosine triphosphate (atp), which is used as a source of energy that the cell uses.. as humans one inherits one?s mitochondria only from one's mother, this finding implies that all living humans have a female line of descent from a woman whom researchers have dubbed mitochondrial eve.

  What about the bush people in New Guinea? What about the native Indians of the Americas? What about the eskimos? the aborigines? What about all the people who due to transportation and communication limitations were never affected by the Bible? What about their history? Why should the story of Adam & Eve be THE story, when there are many different versions of history, passed down in many different cultures?

  Just playing devils advocate here on this point, but a JW would say, these people only dispersed at the Tower Of Babel incident, when the lanuages were confused. Maybe Jehovah confused their languages by race & genetics and so they dispersed, therefore the history of the people you mention is explainable, it just began after Babel.

  do you think life, in general, is better now?.

  I think it's worse than it has been at other points in history, for people and their state of happiness. I think there was probably a time when people were a hell of a lot happier than now, but I also think there may be a time in the future when the world is all fixed, that will be better than both then and now, but it won't be for many lifetimes I don't think.

  A sister emailed me and................................

  ........................expressed the desire to meet for coffee or lunch, seeing as though we work so close to eachother.. i must say it was quite a surprise.

  this sister is older and been a dub for much longer than i ever was.

  she wasn't one of my close friends either, so the email had me curious while also pleasantly surprised.. i replied and we met yesterday for lunch.. she embraced me and we hugged.

  I don't know about the youngest baptized ever, but I think I've heard 7 as well. I remember Corvin who used to post here mentioned one of his brothers (I think it was one of his brothers) was df'd at the age of 12. yes, 12.

  being a member of an organization

  does anyone need to become a member of a religious organization to have access to the "truth"?

  i mean, i never did know anything about the bible haven't a jw knocked my door.

  it's only when i've had my regular study that i became interested with digging the truth.

  It's naive to think that any religion can offer you 'the truth'. All organizations can do is offer their own opinions of what they thinks truth is.

  For myself, I would rather use my own mind to form my own opinions and make my own mistakes than be led by the blind.

  For those raised as JWs...

  i have found that while i can remember my childhood from ages 3-5, i can't remember much after that until i was 17 or so.

  my mom came into the jws when i was 3, and i remember celebrating our last christmas.

  it was a small christmas tree on the end table and it had a present for each of us (2 kids).

  Bad Nitrous Trip . . .

  i just had the strangest experience at the dentist.

  i went to have a cavity filled and the dentist gave me nitrous - as usual.

  i have taken nitrous at the dentist many times with really good results.

  is nitrous the gas anasthetic they give you in the black gas mask? i had one experience on that when i was a child, i needed a tooth removing, they tried to put it on my face and i hit the dentist and so my mom and him and the assistant held me down while i tried to get them off me, but in the end they gassed me, i woke up some time later in the recovery room with a tooth missing.
