  i really did not know what to title this post so i just put how i felt.

  I really did not know what to title this post so I just put how I felt. Where do I begin? Well due to my past experiences with religion. I feel a little bitter. So as of now I consider myself to be an agnostic. Well, me and a girlfriend were having a conversation about religion. I was pointing out to her the story of Elisha and the bethelite boys. Well to make a long story short she called her sister, who is a christian she thought she may be able to give me some insight. Well needless to say we never agreed and the conversation ended in her telling me that God would make me see and humble me down to the point of me never doubting him again to where bad things would happen to me and my family, and also if I died he'll torture me in hell, too. This conversation really made me feel awful because I am not trying to be an enemy of God. Im only questioning the reliability of the writers and the people who interpret it, and I am trying to come to a understanding of the higher power. Well , yesterday my brother was shot by his girlfriend fatally in the chest, and as soon as this news was given to me, my mind flashed back to what the christian lady had said, a couple of days, before this had happened. I do feel it is coincidental but at the same time I can't help but feel the doom I thought I was free from. Thanks for giving me a way to vent.

  I would like to tell everyone on this board how wonderful and comforting that this board is. Simon, thank you for starting a place for people to meet and explore new ideas. I've learned so much, and I really enjoy reading the posts. I' ve seen many different stories about the dubs and I did not beleive any thing that any body had to say. ( How dare you talk about Gods chosen people) Then I stumbled on this forum where people had actually been witnesses. The things said, shocked me at first. Cause I did not want to beleive that I missed so many wonderful things in the world in vain ( birthdays etc...) not only that but I felt that I learned so much about the bible from the witnesses and that they truly had gods backing. The love bombings,,,, I would probably had fallen for it but I didn't,, thanks to knowing what it was. Now I dont even hear from them. Wheres the love????? Thankfully no one in my family is a dub, so Ive not lost my family. I would have though If I would have gotten baptized because this religion seperates you away from everyone except them. No gatherings with family for the holidays, birthdays etc... Even family is made to be bad association. I just want say to everyone that alot of times you dont realize that an experience or a idea that is posted how much it can change a persons life. Thank you so much,,,,,,,,,, keep up the good work guys

  which one teaching really hurt you when you found out that it was not true?

  my number one thing is finding out that the name "jehovah" was not in the bible like it was in the new world translation (tm).

  christians did not call god "jehover" "jehovah" or by his first name, no more than you would call your father by his first name when you were a child.

  I was told that Jehovah would expose all false religion by bringing everything out, for the whole world to see. Everyone would see her fall (BABYLON THE GREAT) Catholics were exposed. Then I find the witnesses have child abuse scandals, too. HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN IN GODS PERFECT ORGANIZATION ????? This was my first let down.
