if you were a jw ( i know...it's a stretch!
) who's job was to help people receive medicare and one of your cases said something negative about jws, mentioning that their significant other once was one but no longer is, would you consider screwing with the case?.
the reason i ask is that i did put my foot in my mouth while speaking with my case worker.
BGirl:
This sounds like a sticky situation and I guess it all depends on the person. Your caseworking could be professional about it, blow off your comment, and finish his/her work with you. Or, they could take your comment to heart, feeling personally attacked and screw with you. I don't know your caseworker and can't speak for him or her, but I strongly doubt I would he or she would do something so vindictive. I imagine that they would have somebody else handle your case before. Screwing with your case could put their job in jeapordy. Therefore, I would just give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe (gulp) apologize if necessary.

i am new here, i found this website a few days ago and have not been able to stop reading it.
my father was a jehovah witness, as was his sister.
the worst treatment i have received anywhere in this world came from these two people.
(((((Celebrate)))))
You sweet, sweet girl. I'm am so so sorry you had to go through such horrible things growing. At a time in your life when you should have been filled with all of the happiness and wonderment in the world, you were being terrorized and manipulated by a very sick pervert. My heart goes out to you.
It's nice to have you on the board. There are many people here that have been through similar ordeals at the hands of "God's chosen people." Please stick around and continue posting as I'm sure you will find much encouragement.

oops............ i tried to post back on the other thread and got an ugly looking "internal error" message.
seven's dire warning obviously had some validity to it, eh?.
the following was sent to me by prisca, remember her?
An acquaintance of mine who is a physician told this story about her then 4-yr. old daughter. On the way to preschool, the doctor left her stethoscope on the car seat, and her little girl picked it up and began playing with it. 'Be still, my heart,' thought my friend, 'my daughter wants to follow in my footsteps!' Then the child spoke into the instrument: "Welcome to McDonald's. May I take your
order?"

A little girl goes to the barbershop with her father. She stands next to the barber chair, while her dad gets his hair cut, eating a snack cake. The barber says to her, "Sweetheart, you're gonna get hair on your Twinkie." She says, "Yes, I know, and I'm gonna get boobs too."

Ever notice how a 4-year old's voice is louder than 200 adult voices?
Several years ago, I returned home from a trip just when a storm hit with crashing thunder and severe lightning. As I came into my bedroom about 2 a.m., I found my two children in bed with my wife, Karey, apparently scared by the loud storm. I resigned myself to sleep in the guest bedroom that night. The next day, I talked to the children and explained that it was O.K.to sleep with Mom when the storm was bad but when I was expected home, to please not sleep with Mom that night. They
said OK. After my next trip several weeks later, Karey and the children picked me up in the terminal at the appointed time. Since the plane was late, everyone had come into the terminal to wait for my plane's
arrival, along with hundreds of other folks waiting for their arriving passengers. As I entered the waiting area, my son saw me, and came running shouting, "Hi, Dad! I've got some good news!" As I waved back, I said
loudly "What's the good news?" "Nobody slept with Mommy while you were away this time!" Alex shouted. The airport became very quiet, as everyone in the
waiting area looked at Alex, then turned to me, and then searched the rest of the area to see if they could figure out exactly who his Mom was.
in view of the mood on the board today, i'll try to make at least some of you laugh with a memory i had this morning...... i'm driving the kid to school, and she sees a vanity plate that says "jericho.
" "mom, was jericho a person or a place?".
wham!
Lisa:
That is funny, but sad at the same time. You must have been mortified! I also had something similar to that happen with me.
When I was in the fourth grade, I had a falling out with my best friend at that time. Our silly little fight lasted for weeks until we decided to meet on the playground to kick each others asses. Of course you know how kids are. We had a huge group around us chanting "fight, fight, fight". Fortunately, the teacher broke it up before anything happened. My 8 year old sister was a witness to this event and told our mother about it when she got home from work.
What did mom do? She pulled out the bible and showed me some scripture about violence and how it is wrong. Then she made me take the bible to school with me, so that if anybody tried to pressure me into fighting I could quote that scripture to them. That's a sure way of getting your ass kicked.
i often read posts where the writer bewails their witness upbringing, feeling that their whole lives have been ruined by the negative environment.
her ladyship is very fond of saying: if it hasnt killed you then its doing you good, and i think that she has a valid point.
let me illustrate:.
Englishman
Excellent idea. I tried your suggestion and it really put things into perspective. I didn't realize how much I had changed.
i work for a nationwide christian radio program that airs on sunday's and this week we are having on a jehovah's witness.
if you would like to listen in, go to kprz.com and you can hear it live or go to contendfortruth.com and see if it will be broadcast in your area.
it should be interesting, i really didn't think jw's did that sort of thing (have a public debate).
Penn:
May I suggest posting your message on various Jehovah's Witness web sights. That would be the cheapest thing to do, although it is difficult to join. The more expensive route would be to look the Kingdom Hall's in the San Diego phone book and send your message to each one. If one of the Elders (pastors) thinks it is fitting, he may post it on the announcement board. There are no guarentees, but it is worth a shot. Good Luck! Thanks for your post I'll be listening.

i don't know if this was discussed here before, but, what is the most ignorant comment you ever heard an elder say.
i once had an elder say to me that my brother, who was at the time fighting in vietnam will be destroyed and killed over in 'nam because he did not accept "jehovah"!!!!
i promptly told him to go "f" himself.
I just remembered another.
There was a district overseer named Brother Bishopp, who worked in the Ohio circut. In each of his talks he would continually emphasize that the sisters skirts need to be two inches below the knee. He preached it like it was biblical fact. Even the most "spiritual" of the congregation rolled their eyes at that one.

Dung & Essie:
I'm very sorry about your losses. That had to be absolutely horrible to deal with.
The stupidest (most insensitive) thing an elder said to me was during a judicial committee. It was the first time I was brought before them and it was for fornication. I voluntarily went to them and confessed the sin, feeling it was the right thing to do before god. After picking and prying at every detail, one of them had the nerve to say, "Are you some kind of slut?" It's already embaressing to tell people those types of details, but to be insulted afterward? I became inactive after that.

FormerOne,
I know the feeling. On Sepember 12, the day after the terrorist attacks, I donated blood at the local Red Cross. It does feel good doesn't it, to know that you are helping somebody who is in need. On top of donated blood for the life of somebody else, I was doing it out of patriotism. If my family only knew.....
