Wishing everyone the Merriest Christmas ever and a Glorious New Year.
last week i asked for advice for a relative who had left her husband.. well, yesterday the elders called on her, in her new place, in another congregation's territory, so her husband must have given them her address.. she thought it was the mailman, so opened the door, surprised to see the elders.
she told them this was not a good time, and one said "can we come back later?
so he says, "are your refusing to meet with the elders, then?

what's the jw line on harry potter?
i took my kiddies last night to see it.
i knew if i didn't take them on the first day of its release i'd be turned in as a deliquent parent!
I've heard people (Christians) complain that the Harry Potter books are bad because of the magic and witches and that they are "so black". I've never heard anyone explain what they mean by "so black." I loved the books. Good always triumphs over evil. Actually, they remind me of the "Chronicles of Narnia" written by a very highly respected theologian, C. S. Lewis.
Any one know why they are said to be "so black?"
please provide feed-back on the following letter.

i went to the depression and health forum because i thought i might find some who are suffering or have suffered from depression as i am..
toasters?????
whatttt????.
Francois--You should be careful of recommending a medication and dosage--what is therapuetic for one is poison for another. And then there are people like me who take Effexor but need 300mg per day to benefit from it.
Depression is a serious illness. Don't hesitate to seek medical care for it.

I have 14 yrs. of treatment resistant, severe depression. I've had ECT, taken more meds than I can remember, and been hospitalized more times than I can remember. I am now on a "complicated regime" of meds. I see my psychiatrist and therapist on a monthly basis. I hate taking all these meds but I know what would happen if I stopped. Depression is very treatable for most people. Don't give up on finding the right med(s).
I found the elders in the congregations we were in after I was diagnosed didn't know anything about depression. Some thought it was a problem with demons! In all the hospitalizations (I think 30+) only two elders ever came to visit me. They have such love for the "sheep" under their care, don't they? I have had so much support from "Christendom". Prayers, calls, cards etc. I am so VERY, VERY, Very (3 times for emphasis) glad to be out and free!!! The thought of what I might be like if I were still in is my worst nightmare! I'd probably be committed to a state hospital !

Proplog2--How can you so harshly criticize Metatron when you won't even read the Awake article for yourself but instead ask Metatron to provide you with the information? Isn't that rather lazy on your part, to say the least?

I agree with Prisca whole-heartedly. Kids are a joy beyond compare! And the Bible tells us that they are perfect. After all, they are a gift from God. And he never gives a less-than-perfect gift!
May God bless you, your wife, and your off-spring to come.

because they are insane.
mabey not all of them, but the one's i've been exposed to so far have some serious mental problems.
and for the record i'm not talking about their religious beliefs, i'm basing my opinion on direct actions taken by the ones that i have had personal experience with.. thought some of you might be interested in the things that have been going on with me and jon's family.
Isn't that just like a Witness? So self-centered and egocentric (I love that word) that they can't see how they could possibly handling something in any but a loving, theocratic way. You've got to have a mighty big ego to believe that. And you've got to be mighty sick in the heart as well as the head.
I'm so sorry you have to go through all this. It's just plain wrong for JonJon's father and the local JW's to do this to you.
The only good thing about it is your firm resolve never to be a JW!
With love and hugs--AmazingEx
some have wondered about where i come from on the topic of faith.
and, as we all ponder our past jw religion, and the events of the day, i need to take some time to address matters of my faith, as i look for some answers.. when adam was created, god did not wait for adam to play a guessing game and start praying.
rather, god reached out to adam.
So Amazing, are you any closer to the other answers you were/are seeking?
first, some background info:.

Billigoat, I certainly don't dispute the benefit of positive thinking. However, when I first got sick or was first diagnosed, I was the happiest, most positive person I have ever known. After I started treatment I could go to bed feeling fine and wake up suicidal and find myself in the hospital later that day. It's been a roller coaster ride ever since.
