2034's Coming! UN is banning Religion! Where is the urgency?
by Nosferatu init seems that jehovah's spirit disoriented organization has really made a mess with this one.
people are speculating about 2034. throw the whole un thing about banning religion into the mix.
jehovah's people are now saying that armageddon's right around the corner (but what else is new?)..

btw, UN won't ban religion because all of the muslim countries would bail out instantly, and even the vatican has a seat on the UN....which would mess things up pretty good.

Witnessing to Witnesses: Flawed Doctrine or WT Misdeeds?
by imallgrowedup inwhen we witness to witnesses, what is the most important thing we should talk to them about first - flawed doctrine, or watchtower misdeeds such as the un, child molestation, etc.?
what's your game plan, or what worked on you?
inquiring minds want to know!

as somebody brought up earlier, "There are none as deaf as those that do not want to hear and none as blind as the ones that do not want to see".
but personally, if you feel its your deed to witness to them, and they'll listen, stay off of doctrine because most JW doctrine is man made and they can change it however they please.

Another survey from Lee
by Lady Lee inreading simon's post about how things used to be i started thinking about how the internet has changed things.
many believe the internet and the freedom of information it contains will be the undoing of the wts.. when i was a jw, there were a few dfings but maybe one a year or even less.
people drifted away but we really didn't pay a lot of attention unless it was a close friend.. in here we see new people coming in all the time.

- What year did you leave? 1st time 2000, 2nd time (working on leaving again)
- How old were you when you left? 16 and 20
- Did the internet have anything to do with your decision to leave? first time no, second time it helped
- If you left before you got on the internet what reading did you do about the WTS or cults that helped you make your decision? i was too stupid...sex drugs and rock and roll (i didn't have sex and i didn't do drugs, so rock and roll). the first time, i was just tired of being a kid in the society. i didn't realize it, but i lived through a generation prophecy. Now that i've read and such, i've seen that a lot of my friends fathers that were a JW were perverts and sexual beasts and dickheads. and i was thinking last nite...i think one of my old friends dads killed himself for some reason because of the WTS (not for sure, just a hunch). now i just see all the hypocrisy and everything that seems to be a model of the world. my g/f was in a judicial committee, and what they said in there done it for me, and how they made her feel, and how they still make her feel. they are heartless bastards that only expect obediance....
- What was the one most important reason that helped you decide to leave (even if the decision was made for you through a DFing). the most important reason was seeing how miserable my g/f was because she made a decision on her own to date a "worldy" guy, so they treat her like total garbage. the other things that pissed me off was everyone talking like the world is so wicked and all of the lies and deception and saying they are so great and i can go on and on and on and on and on.....
- If you left and still thought it was "the truth" what helped you change your mind? the first time i left i finally went back. it took a few kicks in the pants, but i went back. now i can't believe its the truth because they make an abomination of the word "truth" and redefine the word as "a bunch of lies made up to look good".

Totalitarianism and the Watchtower
by ozziepost intotalitarian organisations all have similar features, all resort to the force of power over its members or citizens.. is the watchtower totalitarian?
it may be helpful to see how it resembles another totalitarian government.
the book "shadows and wind" a view of modern vietnam, robert templer, abacus 1998 gives some interesting insights into the governing of viet nam and, at the same time, may alert us to the totalitarianism of the watchtower.. as we go through some of the book's insights, it's worth comparing each one to what is found today in the wts.. effects of internet.

i do believe that the watchtower is more of a totalitarian system. they rule by fear, and if they make a mistake, they blame it on the people that follows them....everything like that. so are they a theocracy, or are they totalitarian? i would say the latter...

i learned the hard way that walking away wasn't the answer. i remember in 8th grade i tried and some kid tried to pull me in the gym shower. well the asshole got pulled into the water and then i almost knocked him out, but i just started screaming and everything came out and it was a constant stream of profanity that any 8th grader doesn't have a right to say, but it felt good to let those dumbasses have it verbally.
heh, what do these 80 year old farts know about being young? they know how to pull the whip, but i bet old Freddy Franz was gettin hummers behind his KH when he was a kid....

Personal Bio per request
by dustin_adam inhmm.... where to begin?
i should first state that i'm someone who has nothing to hide, although i'm not prooud of some of the things i've done in my life, they were nonetheless experiences to be learned from, and i have spent much energy in trying to do so.
this may turn out to be a rather lengthy posting and even still, there are many things that i will innevitably not include.. i was born in victoria, bc in 1982, the majority of my childhood is not available to me so i have to live mostly on information from my family to fill in the gaps, but we moved around a lot after that up until i was 5, when my parents divorced.

looking back the pattern is all there, when they were first going out Dave would often comment to my mother about my interests as a kid, science, classical music and books, all the things that boys shouldn't be interested in in his opinion.
i'd bash him for that in itself. me and my g/f love listening to classical music once and awhile, and science has always been really big for me. matter of fact, its how i get to a lot of my conclusions about this WTS philosiphy.
