jwsons-
you obviously didn't read the initial post in this thread. Those weblinks simply back up what I posted originally about the WT owning 50% of Rand Cam Engine Corp, not Reg Tech. Please read the original post and tell me what you think.
i thought this deserved its own thread...below is a reply a made to one of the previous threads ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24473&site=3 ) and i am anxious for someone to refute it...or maybe i'm right.. not quite...it seems everyone is muddling the details on this.. it seems that james mccann, who donated the stocks to the wt, invented an improved rotary engine called a rand cam engine.
his company, the rand cam engine corp is a privately held company, but he has donated 50% of the stock to the wt (but retained the voting proxy so the wt has no say in what is going on), he owns 34% and the balance is owned by several shareholders.
this company is half owner of another company called rand energy group.

i just stumbled onto this website whilst messing about on the internet and i've taken exception to quite a lot of what i've seen here.
incase you think i'm some irate jehovah's witness idiot who's been offended by the terrible blasphemy that he's read on here, i'm not.
i was raised a jw, but now i'm not one.. first of all, given the url, i thought this website was in some way affiliated with the jehovah's witness organization, whereas in reality it seems from the posts i've read that most people here are either former jehovah's witnesses or soon-to-be former jehovah's witnesses.
ummmmmmm, I think Francois was talking to Little Lamb...

Like it or not, that is a fact! Believe it or not, it is still a fact! You saying something is true does not make it a fact. If you are going to make claims that a "WT owned company" is profiting off of smart bombs, then you should back this up with some type of proof. Otherwise, most people, including myself, will write your post off as completely untrue (unless they are looking for more reasons to hate the WT.)

First off, I'm not a Watchtower guy. I have minimal contact with my elders, let alone the WT.
Second,
No one said you Watchtower guys owned military stock directlyI believe your thread was titled "WTS into Military Stock Big Time", that is an exaggeration that I was trying to clarify.
You'd like to re-spin the facts but can't. Voting proxy or no, you do have a MAJOR vested interest.I have no desire to re-spin anything, just understand it clearly. The WT has a MAJOR vested interest in a company that has a vested interest in another company that works with a company on military applications. That is a more precise statement as opposed to your "you do have a MAJOR vested interest." Which is about as vague as saying "You DO own a car, so you must have run over that person."
I've already acknowledged that the WT has a MINOR connection to a company developing products for military apps and that according to their teachings, they should get rid of these. Don't be so dramatic.

JEHOVAH'S organization needs to do better by it's volunteers.
Maybe you should run for Home Overseer so you can improve the bad living conditions at Bethel. A living room for everyone! That can be your slogan.
the onus is on those who accept the Bethel conditions and stay as unpaid volunteers....*Jehovah's* organization forces people to live in what *I* consider poor living situations.I guess if the onus is on the Bethelite for staying, then the WT are not forcing them, are they?
Again, I lived there and the living conditions were fine. Everyone I personally know that lived there thought the living conditions were fine. You have never lived there and never will and *you* think the living conditions are poor. This discussion just became pointless.

Sorry, AMC, you're just making it the already bad conditions seem worse every time you post.
That's fine, I was not hoping to convince you that it is a wonderful experience and you should pursure it. I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon. My point was to clarify that they are probably not forced to sleep on the floor, which I believe this point was made.
My room dimensions could very well be way off as I'm not good at guestimating those type of things. All I can say is, from my personal experience, the living conditions were not bad. We had a room with a couch and a chair, a TV, VCR, Stereo and a view of the Manhattan skyline. We had a couple different Gyms to work out in, an indoor basketball court, walking distance from Manhattan, and lots of friends. I had a lot of fun, despite the awful pictures painted in this thread.

Not quite...it seems everyone is muddling the details on this.
The other partner is Reg Technologies.
These two companies, Rand Energy Group and Reg Technologies are the developers of the Rand Cam engine.
The website you referred us to, http://www.regtech.com/press/press1995.htm , simply says the following..."Hercules Aerospace company has merged with Alliant TechSystems, Inc. that creates a $1.3 billion company in annual sales. Alliant is currently completing the drawings on the Diesel Engine to be completed within ninety days."
So neither Rand Cam Engine Corp, Rand Energy Group, or Reg Technologies own or have merged with this company. Instead, Alliant is working in conjunction with Reg Tech to develop a diesel version of this rotary engine.
So, in effect, the WT owns half of a company (with no voting proxy, mind you) that owns half of another company that has a subsidiary that is working with another company that is developing their engine for a military application.
So I wouldn't go so far to say that WT is into Military stock big time, but I would say that if the WT is aware of this military connection, you would think they would donate the stock back so as not to stumble anyone. Who knows how many different stocks they own and if they are tracking the actions of each company they have a vested interest in? Maybe they don't realize this, maybe they do, I don't know.
If someone understands this differently, please respond.

so I don't understand--how do some end up on the FLOOR?And this is OK with you?!?!?!?
OK, when your entire living space is approx 8'x10', you make a choice between getting a 6 foot single bed (with a pull out bed underneath for your roommate) take up most of the room or telling Bethel "no thanks, I'll sleep on the floor and just put a few chairs in hear so me and my buddies can hang out and watch movies, and if we're lucky, invite some sisters up." Or something to that effect.
So, in any event, I'm pretty sure it was by choice that they were sleeping on the floor. That is OK with me (their mom might disagree)...

After spending about an hour in their room, it finally dawned on Exodus that there were no beds, let alone space to be able to put beds in. So he asked them: "By the way where do you guys sleep?"To that they replied while pointing at the floor: "right there".
Exodus said he flipped. "You don't even have a bed?" "well, said the bethelite, we havent been here long enough to have a big room and we're in line to get one of those fold down closet beds".
Do you mean that post? That was the exact situation me and my roommate were in...we didn't have enough seniority to get a big room or a Murphy (fold down) bed, and instead of having regular beds (which were available to all Bethelites) take up most of our room, we slept on the floor. Again, it is my guess that is the situation in the above post.

Knowing that there are some STILL there who are sleeping on the floor after all this time
Just to clarify, I don't think there are Bethelites sleeping on the floor, unless it is by choice. When I was there, some opted to sleep on the floor (usually on mats or foam) so they wouldn't have beds taking up all the space in the room. I only know this because that is what me and my roomate did (it also meant we didn't have to make our beds in the morning, just roll up the blankets and throw it in the closet.)It is my guess that was the situation of the bethelites mentioned earlier since they said they were waiting for a Murphy bed (those beds that fold down from a wall.)
