Oh please. You are the one who attacked my thread. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24511&site=3&page=2
I had posted what I understood from the military stock bit. Your first reply was a harmless opinion, but your second went off accusing me of "rearranginr words and sugarcoating" and being "not the least bit concerned about "investigating" or "assuming" ANYTHING about the WTS unless, of course, it concerns something that you want to denounce the board about......"
That was completely from left field!

it had NOTHING to do with the WTS being unethical for being
profitableMy post was more directed at LDH's comment where she made a comparison to the Red Cross by saying the following:
I'll just stop here and assume that MA hasn't read anything in the news about the Red Cross soliciting donations for victims of tragedy and NEVER spending the money on what it was donated for.
They're one of the best examples of a "non-Profit" this country has. Yes, there are a million ways to manipulate the figures to make it look like you're not making "any money." LOL.
So in my reply I prefaced that I don't know enough about a profitable business as opposed to a non-profit religion to determine which the WT should really fall under, but that I didn't think they were doing anything unethical, such as "NEVER spending the money on what it was donated for." This wasn't even a debate against any other post, just an opinion (because I don't think LDH point was that the society is unethical as much as it was that there are plenty of ways to peg yourself non-profit when you really are.)
Then you say...
And what is your point with Rand Cam Engine?....Certainly, you're
No, not at all. But I certainly won't go the other way and say
not trying to say that the Society is not going to profit from even the most miniscule holdings in this company? The point is MA, the WTS is making a BIG PROFIT on this stock!
because I don't know that for a fact.stock that's going to make the profit that the RAND CAM engine is going to make.
Maybe I should go buy some stock in it then. -

Ohhhh, I'm sorry. I didn't know this was a debate. I just saw a post about a company called Reg Tech and their subsidiary REGI and an engine they own the rights to called a Rand Cam Engine. So what is the topic of debate and what stance should I argue?

I'm not sure what constitutes a profitable business as opposed to a non-profit religion, but it seems to me that the WTS use their money exactly as they say they do, to promote their preaching work. I think buying a facility to teach people in would fall under that category. I see nothing unethical with this. I assume that the WT has a lot of money and they probably have some pretty savvy business men to make sure they use their money wisely so they always have resources to further their preaching work. When I was at Bethel, I saw no indication that a single person was profiting off of the WT's revenues. Did any other ex-Bethelites?
And Deddaisy, I'm not sure if you realize this, but Rand Cam is the trade marked name of a type of engine. So if you do searches just on that you will find a lot of things that aren't directly related to the Rand Cam Engine Corporation who do not own the trade mark license. You may already know this, but thought I would point it out just in case.

WT does NOT own "Military Stock"
by amccullough ini thought this deserved its own thread...below is a reply a made to one of the previous threads ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24473&site=3 ) and i am anxious for someone to refute it...or maybe i'm right.. not quite...it seems everyone is muddling the details on this.. it seems that james mccann, who donated the stocks to the wt, invented an improved rotary engine called a rand cam engine.
his company, the rand cam engine corp is a privately held company, but he has donated 50% of the stock to the wt (but retained the voting proxy so the wt has no say in what is going on), he owns 34% and the balance is owned by several shareholders.
this company is half owner of another company called rand energy group.

This is the last time that I'm even going to look at this thread.
That's one way to get the last word in.
I challenged you only because you were to quick to judge its content, seemingly as if one couldn't do that for oneself.
What in the hell are you talking about...quick to judge? What judgement did I make? This whole thread was started because I wanted to clearly understand all the legal jargon I had been reading about this whole stupid military stock thing. I kept reading all these threads about the "WT being into Military Stock Big Time!" and "WT owns smart bomb factory!" but when I read the information they were referencing, I didn't get that. So I started a thread stating exactly how I understand all the information that I was able to find and invited others to either verify or correct my understanding. My initial post even acknowledged that there is some level of guilt at the WT, but not as much as everyone else has said.Your posts simply reenforce my belief that there are many people on this list who are just as "blinded" by their hatred for the WT as they were when they were FOR the WT. This is evident because of your inability to read a post without either attributing it to a "for" or "against" catagory as regards the WT. You assumed that I was trying to absolve any guilt of the WT and that I was posting in their complete defense, even though that is not in any of my posts.
SUGARCOAT: TO MAKE MORE PLEASANT OR ACCEPTABLE.
The point was that I don't know. Neither do you. They probably do keep track of all their monies. The point of bringing that out is that there could be a number of reasons or excuses, and without getting a statement from the WT or investigating it to that detail....who knows. Again, the point was to direct the discussion AWAY from anything that was too speculative and towards understanding the facts available. Its called rational thinking.
YOU:"Who knows how many different stocks they own and IF THEY ARE TRACKING THE ACTIONS OF EACH COMPANY THEY HAVE A VESTED INTEREST IN? " give me a break mccullough, if you truly believe that a organization as large as the WTS doesn't have a network of lawyers, financial advisors, and professionals that keep tabs on investments you are more foolish than I originally thought. If not, then you are sugarcoating the issue. The same with rearranging words, your posts are like reading "Who's on First?"
You did not provide evidence of me rearranging words. You are right about one thing though...this topic has become very boring besides defending myself from defamation.

The WTS teaches that playing chess is "inappropriate" for Dubs.
I don't think I would go so far as to say that. In doing a search on articles on chess, all I could find were some poorly written articles that were critical of chess that the extreme JWs could use to say chess is bad (interestingly enough, I also found articles in favor of chess.)
I do agree with the essence of your post though. In that, if the WT is going to be critical of things as minor as chess and where people work, then they should be equally concerned with what they are doing with their money.

Anyone here into vinyl?
by sleepy inanyone here into vinyl?.
no this is nothing pervy.. i'm in a musical mood today and one of my passions is buying records.. (not collecting records as i actually buy them to listen to).
i still buy records on vinyl rather than cd when i can, the packaging is much better and if you have a good record player so is the sound.. it getting hard to find much nowadays in a lot of record stores.. theres an excellent record shop near me though that stocks a ton of the stuff.now wheres all my wages gone?

Waiting, you are the devil incarnate!
I have about 1,000 records but have only ever used Technic 1200s (I'm a DJ.) As my children get a little older, I hope to upgrade my sound system drastically and get another turntable (maybe a Linn or something similar.)
