Thanks everyone.This forum is the greatest for those who have the courage to examine the org. my relatives do not even know the phone number to the society but will follow everything that comes off the platform by the person who is a janitor and gives advice in the game of life.

We had armagedon drills also and we talk about the horrors of the great tribulation I remember one family would starve there kids during some weeks so they could experience famine,I remember one brother telling me that even if they threaten to cut off your penis we must stay faithful, I was like 10 years old at the time.Ahhh the memories.

i am doing a project on the rhetoric surrounding the 1975 armageddon prophecy.

i've read all the research and quotes online... now i am interested in any personal testimonies.

i have heard a few stories, such as witnesses accruing massive credit card debt in '74 and early '75 and quitting their jobs.

I was thirteen at the time and believed I would never go to high school or colege thank God I survived I remember one sister starving her kids so they could be ready for the great tribulation.

Misconceptions of the GB

what was your misconceptions about the gb?

here was one of mine, when folks would ask me why wasn't their any blacks on the gb.

i would say that the blacks weren't educated enough at the time (late 1800's - early 1900's) to govern a worldwide organization.

I to remember being taught that the blacks were the descandants of Ham and that they were a cursed race and that was in the suberbs of Chicago I always felt that many of the witnesses looked at blacks differently as if yeah we have to accept them they are Gods people too.

well has i have posted in the past i never got baptized, the reason was more out of guilt that i was not good enough to belong to this elite org.

of christians i felt i would be a hypocrite if i was going out with wordly friends and then going out in service and giving talks so i avoided baptism at an early age.

That is the problem with the org. they make the rules so strict and if you stumble you are really looked down upon that I think ia why it is hard for most people to join it all sounds good but when you find out about all the rules you run,and if you are a member you always have guilt feelings that you are not doing enough or I shoud not be doing this or that.As I got older I decided to study since when I was younger I was just going thru the motions well after studying and pressure to get baptized I had to tell the elders to back off a bit and give me time to think things out, I think it was the best thing that I did I have not been to a meeting in over a year now and after much praying to Jehovah I did alot of research on the org. and this site has been the best what you can learn here is amazing I don't think anyone knows what all the answers are, also after much praing I married a wordly girlfriend I had and just recently had a baby I just thought I would share this with everyone.Although it kills my mom because those jw moms are always hoping for us.

this kind of goes along with all of the posts recently about the memorial.

when my mother explained the annointed to me when i was young i asked how someone would know if they were part of the annointed.

she told me, "they just know.
