Self Love...
by Elsewhere in.
this quote reminded me of jws so i had to post it for everyone.... he who begins by loving christianity better than truth, will proceed by loving his own sect or church better than christianity, and end in loving himself better than all.. -- samuel taylor coleridge, aids to reflection, "moral and religious aphorisms," aph.
appologies to all of you who thought i was talking about something else... what can i say... sex sells.

Even if a God did exist, there are no absolutes
by logansrun inthere is no objective standard for right and wrong even if a god did exist.
god's morality is nothing more than an opinion backed up by absolute power.
might does not make right.

Complainers are irksome, TMS for April 2004
by jgnat ini am alternately enraged that the wts would again lay all responsiblility for their unhappiness back on the congregation, and encouraged that there are enough vocal members for headquarters to notice.
here are some questions back to the wts.the israealites waited 40 years for the promise.
how much longer must the "other sheep" follow you before they realize they are following the wrong shepherd?moses ran a gauntlet of miracles that pharoah could not match.

Isn't this typical?
Moses messes up in the wilderness, and so the Israelites suffer the consequences. Adam makes a mistake and his offspring suffer the consequences. There were kings and judges appointed. Most were oppresive and the people suffered from their mistakes. The Pharasees were allowed to rule, and the Israelites were miserable.
The GB has been oppresive to the flock, and the flock also suffer the consequences. Any similarities here? What kind of sick 'god' lets people suffer all the way from Adam till now? Then there is going to enter a Millinium to clean things up, and 'god' sends his enemy to prey on the innocent?
This is too much.........

Metatron,
You're close. But the CO's have a way to make you feel bad, for even doing that. I have been to many elders schools. The last one I went to, we were bombarded with more responsibilities. During the break I went up to the DO and CO. They asked me what I thought of the program. I told them, I was getting burned out. I am a PO, I have a full time job, a family, full congregation responsibilities, etc etc. So I told them that the borg, rather than encouraging the elders for doing the job, made most of them feel inadequate. So perhaps we aren't cut out for the job. They replied with:"You need to put your faith more in 'god'. He will give you the power to accomplish the things that are beyond normal" I looked at them both and told them that I had been an elder for 18 years and had done that. If by now 'god' hadn't done that for me, knowing my circumstances and my efforts, I obviously don't have what it takes to run a congregation.
So even with the approach you mentioned above. You will find that they will lay a 'guilt trip' on your head. No matter where you are in the borg are what you are planning. Everything is a guilt trip, and makes you feel unworthy. It's never good enough.
