TEC,
I could not have answered better than Ada did. Read her comment again, please?
BroDan ?
there are many "proof" texts that people (including jws) use to justify their rejection of anyone that is gay.
there are a few scriptures that you can pull up and try to make a case for show homosexuals why they are evil and wrong.. i've been researching more of these scriptures and i'm coming to some very different conclusions than many other christians hold, especially jws.
i wanted to talk about the first text used by many people to condemn homosexual behaviour.

And then Lot has to commit incest (while drunk!!) to keep his lineage going so it can lead up to the Messiah?
1. Lot didn't do it, his daugters did
BroDan,
How can I say this, as delicately as possible ? Because, it's a very, very ugly mental picture of a man, Lot, that Biblically is held up as a good example to followers. 'God' praises him, too. Yet, you and many others want to protect Lot's reputation in order to protect your beliefs in these very old writings.
*sigh*
Lot wasn't ever condemned or punished by God or anybody else for being (a) DRUNK. And, NEVER condemned for RAPE or INCEST.
Do you really think a 'regular' guy could have used "I'm innocent by because, I was DRUNK", as a reasonable, lawful defense for having sex with ALL his daughters???
"...his daughters...," "did it"? Really? They were mere property, remember ?
What does it tell you about Daddy Lot, when he is capable of getting getting several erections and climax's with his DAUGHTERS ??? Don't even try the DRUNK excuse !
Then, like all child abusers...Lot blames his daughters. Who are they to say anything OR be believed ??
There. Defend that ugly truth.

nairobi, kenya - david kato knew he was a marked man.. .
That STUPID Rosa Parks, eh ?
That STUPID M.L. King, eh ?
Why would ANYONE stand up for their rights and the rights of others...? It could be dangerous !
You could end up dead or famous or make history by changing, opening peoples minds. Or, all of those things.
It has ALWAYS taken at least ONE (1) person -- to stand up first. To take that first step...must be scary, but, what if...throughout history...no one did ???
Even your Dad, Gregor, was not STUPID for standing on a public street. He was harming no one. Laws were broken and I hope the guilty were punished severely.
i sat in on the "know your options" reading tonight, and the elder said a couple things i was wondering about:.
1. he said if a doctor says you have a high risk of dying if you refuse a blood transfusion, he is misleading you.
he said people "rarely" die from refusing a blood transfusion.
asphere...
If the people who "rarely died" were old coots who claim to speak for god, they would change their tune real quick and decide that transfusions were dandy.
You've just explained how the GB concoct their changes on blood fractions, so-called, "NewLight". They lost someone close to them. It got personal.
Flyin', thank ya' sweetie !

1. He said if a doctor says you have a high risk of dying if you refuse a blood transfusion, he is misleading you. He said people "rarely" die from refusing a blood transfusion. Is there a statistic to confirm or refute that statement?
Call my JW Mom "rarely", cause she most certainly is dead and buried. Docs & nurses...were about to pull out their own hair -- they could have easily saved her. *sigh*
2. The elder asked the congregation what are some things that "usually" happen when you take a blood transfusion. People responded with things such as hepatitis, infection, or your body rejecting the blood, and he approved of their responses. Do these complications happen frequently enough to say they "usually" happen?
My sweet wife (never a dub) needed a blood transfusion last year. What happened ? She looked like death -- they started transfusing -- slowly, slowly...she started getting a little pink in her cheeks, then her finger tips as life giving oxygen found each of her cells that had been smothering. Finally, her eyes fluttered, focused on me...and smiled.
That was all. That was everything to me. It was like a resurrection -- just the opposite of watching my Mom smothered to death. Over an old Jewish dietary law.
i'll start off.. i don't believe anything is divine about bible writings.
i believe there may be some marginal history although not much.
i think alot of folk tales and regional myths are contained in the old testament.
Well, see...I wish I could believe in a creator or a god(s), the Bible just makes that very difficult.
It's not just the physical, historical, scientific, contradictory, 'inspired things of God' that these men (goat-herders) got wrong. But, their Omnipotent Perfect God never took a perfect opportunity to educate or correct them. Why ? He wasn't bound by the Prime Directive, like on Star Trek. He could have improved their lives with accurate, truthful info.
We only live 70-90 yrs, if we're lucky. Would it have been that much trouble for The Most Powerful God to have shown up every once in a while in the last few thousand years? He could have cleared up any mistakes that crop up when you let goat-herders write His Words. He could have "walked around" like in Eden...at least once in every-body's lifetime -- He could have done a lot more.
But, He didn't. I know...Adam & Jesus, nope. 2 times in the Bible's thousands of years, is not enough. It also is impossible to believe in thisOmnipotent God of Love, because He has NEVER done anything to alleviate the suffering of mankind -- EVER !
He only CAUSED the problem by not killing the story book Adam & Eve off. Period. He could have started over, right? How can I love a God of Love -- like that??
I'm agnostic. So, if there is a god -- it's made it impossible to believe in It.
My answer: No.

Awww...Jesus just gets a cut (pun intended) out of the whole thing.
I don't think it was too much...remember how mad he gets in Revelation, when he has to come back again ?
Geeze...indeed !

being male, i cannot relate to all of this, but i do draw a lot of parrallels to the jws.. one quote:.
so why wasnt i dating mormon men?
"How unprepared I was to experience tenderness in the place I had been warned so vehemently against. How unprepared for the flood of relief, the bud of hope, after a life devoted to keeping myself separate from my body. Here was a path, an opening; here was empathy. "
How many times have I (and you) felt this since leaving The Truth (aka, The Lie) ?
Let me count the ways...

Sure...just swear to God (and all the little gods, too) that you'll invest it wisely ?
