  Curious about something ?

  who has the real truth then ?.

  i found this forum last year and since then i have read many posts.

  many people are still eager to quote from the bible etc.its almost as if they are still jw's.

  Ditto to what has been said before, sneaky russian even beat me to the question I was going to say "What is truth".

  It has recently occurred to me that the Borg assumes and teaches that there is one truth, and that one truth is "the truth". However no where in the bible does it say there is one truth. There may be one way, the fathers way and so on but that is open to dispute. However where does it say it is the only truth?

  Science often proves that what was thought of truth yesterday can be disproven tomorrow. So is there one truth or is there truth according to the individual trying to make sense of all this? I dont think there is one truth.

  Nadsam I wondered to when I joined the board last month about all the bible quotong that goes on too but I have come to realise that many still have faith in God's ward and just because you loose faith in the Borg it does not translate to lost faith in the Bible.

  For those that choose to believe in the words in the bible, the words are still as relevent to them today and has meaning for them. What has lost its power is the organisation and the control over its members. JW's do not own the bible, there's is just one interpretation of it, albeit a bad one. However it does not make the bible any less real or relevant to those that choose to believe in the words that are written in it.

  My personal view, although relevant to me is just that, my personal view. I believe it was a book written by men who were in control of people that they felt they needed tighter control over. It is a book of do's and don'ts and contains endless examples of what happens when you choose to follow or choose to disregard. Hence it has no meaning to me other than empty words.

  Having said that I would never impose that view on anyone, or expect anyone to take up said view. To wonder why others still choose to is probably a healthy line of questioning but one I wouldn't ponder on too long. Nor would I assert that just because I no longer believed in the bible that it is wrong that others should. Or that there is not place in this board for bible discussion and quotes. The Borg is what is redundent on this site, not the bible (for many anyway).

  I don't know if this rambling makes any sense but I hope it helped a little. If not then this message will self destruct in 5 seconds............

  i worked in the cable industry for awhile and each year we would go to a convention in which stations would promote themselves to keep our business.

  in doing this, there were always the adult channels represented, as well.

  while i walked the floor and met people from showtime, hbo and other stations.

  So that was you hey Celtic?????? Hehehe na just joking. I was out nightclubbing Saturday night and apart form the ravishing appearance and all the other stuff you said that just about describes me! Although I do dance like a banshee and was told that often enough by partners that I wore out!

  Take it slowly, nightclub lights can be deceiving. Meet in the light of day and have a coffee or something and get to know the person behind the appearance. I read a saying in an email today. No matter how gorgeous a woman appears to be, somewhere there is a man who is tired of putting up with her sh**. No one is perfect. She may still be single for a reason...like she chooses to be......

  I joined a singles club and on the first night met someone I could really dig. Surprised me when he asked if I wanted to go out. I said yes but I only wanted to be friends etc. I had the same thoughts and expressed them in a thread. Along the lines of what is this hot guy looking at an old bag like me for. He is 6 months older but is yummy. Well anyway we went out last week and had a nice night.

  Last Saturday night I went out with the singles group and he showed up with someone else. He was embarrased but we had a couple of dances together and I asked him why he was embarrased? He said he felt awkward but I said that that is exactly what I wanted. A friend I could go out with when we both felt like it but no commitment or deep and meaningfuls and stuff like that. After that he relaxed and we had a really good time with the large group we were with.

  So anyway my point is that just because you really like someone there are different types of relationshops you can have, so take your time to explore them. Listen Celtic you have to remember also that beauty is only skin deep and fades with time. Its the person that is important, so get to know the person first, fall in love (if yo have to) with the person not the breasts. Breasts sag and eventually wrinkle up and almost disappear, loving the person is forever.

  radical, militant islamists or a "rogue state" like n. korea will eventually succeed in nuking one or more american cities.

  of this i am utterly convinced, it is not a matter of it "might" happen, the question is how soon will they succeed in pulling it off, and what will the fallout of such an event be, besides the loss of hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions of lives?.

  john kerry in a recent stump speech said that all it would take is one megaterrorist attack to drastically change life as we know it.

  Hmmm scary thought.....if you look at Hiroshima it appears a fate that you would not wish on your worst enemy, not even the Borg! If it does happen it will mean the most powerful nation on the earth is even more vulnerable than was thought and that no country on earth would be safe. There would be no such thing as security.

  A more realistic liklihood is taking out the nations online life that controls absolutley everything. Taking out a nations IT would do more damage than a neuclear bomb. IT would cripple the nation financially, economically and everything else. Think about it. It would be more effective to strike IT than a nation and damage more powerful people that a bomb would. Do you think that a small nation would risk the full force of american military might retalitating in self defence? There would be no world left and the living would envy the dead indeed. No one is mad enough to prove the Borg correct are they??????????

  why is it that if a man passes by at the mall or grocery store toting a baby or little kids along gets all kinds of admiring looks from strangers?

  especially if he puts the kid in one of those baby pouch thingys....geez he may as well be a god.

  if he has toddlers and they are acting up its not his fault hes doing the best he can after all.

  I love being around people most of the time. There is not many people I cant get along with, even if they are grummpy or out of sorts. However when I need me time I take time alone. Your a long time dead but hey it takes all sorts of people to make up a world and if you "vant to be alone" then thats the way you are!
