I think Larc once said to me here, "Don't complain and don't explain".
There is no need. This is the internet, many sins will be committed and many more forgiven.

i was watching an interview with a black american recently about barrack obama.
interestlingly he said that black americans find it hard to claim him as one of their own.
he said that black people would much prefer to have someone who is from the stereotypical upbringing of a black american to be the presidential candidate.
Not that there is anything wrong with digderidoo's question, but I think sometimes these terms are crammed down our throats and we use them, not because we think one way or another, but almost as knee jerk reactions.
... unless you read apostate views.. you may become inactive, like i did, and find a way to assimilate yourself into the normal world.. but you will always have at your core a view of the world that the witnesses gave you.
their basic teachings will still be your world view.. you will never realize you were indoctrinated by a cult.. for those poisoned by jehovah's witnesses there is only one antidote.. there is only one way to understand your life and progress from there.. the only true cure for jehovah's witnesses is apostasy..
Deprogram is a more accurate term. Most of, if not all of us here are high risk PUI's. So Jimmy's meaning is pretty clear to this crowd.
One has to go beyond the simple act of removing oneself from the WTBTS and all that entails. That is step one, step two is making a conscious effort to begin the deprogramming process. I, like many others began step two here, but there are many other paths available.

Do White Americans claim Obama as one of their own?"
That was similar to my reaction. I don't think of people as black or white or yellow. He's a smart, charismatic man who worked hard to get to where he is...that's what I see when I look at him. If the talking heads just left it at that, wouldn't the race discussion just go away? Or at least not be as pronounced as it is now?
it seems the entire world feels that americans are not only ignorant of international events but also void of any sense regarding their own politics.
after reading one spicey thread on the topic of our apparent unwitting density i had a couple things to say.
(parental discretion advised for political incorrectness):.
Your political system is weak and is there to serve the industrial military complex and other big business.
This essentially sums it up. We have a one party system in the US. The party in power is the Republicrats, soon to be the Democans. Two sides of the same coin.
It's capitalism run amok. The only hope for reform is a revolution and that would probably only cause more chaos. Are we US citizens responsible for the havok our government causes? Yes. Is there anything we can do? Not really.

"You're either laughing or you're crying..."
Snowbird: I'd do either with you!
VoidEater,
While wearing those jammies, I think it's safe to say that no one here could refuse an offer to do either with you.
over the decades musicians rise and fall like a spring wind.
some stay where they should never be, some never are where they should be; such is the roulette of time.

MrsMcD,
If I remember correctly Herb A. had a reputation as a nice guy as well.
I seem to remember one of my uncles who was involved in Burbank politics for a while talking about how much he enjoying playing golf with him. Herb A. was a good businessman as well, he make a lot of $$ in a relatively short period of time.
4candles,
This is a pretty good example of Luka's style. Different, but good.

Six,
"sound like life should feel".
I like it.
Great Taj link. He was the first artist I ever saw play a "National" guitar. That was at a friday night dance at a local Catholic High School. I'm pretty sure he was at least partly responsible for the "National" revival. I saw him just a few years ago at a small local club, maybe 150 in attendence. He just gets better and better.
