Why would you do so? Nothing comes to mind that I really would care to hear again.

Can I cover a kingdom song?
by Solace1998 inunder copyright law, any song can be legally covered, as long as the proper fee is paid.
so that means i could release versions of kingdom songs?
that would be kind of funny.

have to admit he has a point.
Yep, I admit it...he had a point. But the time he lived in was probably suckier than ours. Another 100 years and we are all probably going to say, "Damn, remember when JD quoted Descartes to us"?.

Do not go gentle into that good night
by Hortensia ini looked this up because i was remembering it wrong.
i thought it was "do not go gentle into that dark night" and "rage against the dying of the moon" for some reason.
that was a little confusing because the moon has a rebirth and i was wondering what the author's point was.

Shouldn't poetry be timely though?
If the meaning is so obscure that we are lost before we even begin to consider it, what's the point?

Paradise on Earth
Logic tells me no,
emotion says yes.

I think maybe one reason I dislike being read to
Yeah, but there is a groove that can be achieved by just listening. It takes focus, and good subject matter...but most of that is new to us x's.

Well Amicus, you could be right about that. We could all be the proverbial springs wound too tight by JWism, just waiting to pop off and bounce off some walls
We both know most of us don't fall into this category, but some do.

Rene Descartes--"cogito ergo sum."
Pfft, Descartes was an elitist. A rebel elitist, but an elitist just the same. The catchier phrases are Latin phrases and he knew it. The Irish were probably laughing thier asses off at his misuse of Latin.

when read by a skilled reader
Me, me can I read?
Actually, that was the one, perhaps the only thing I loved about my witness days. I like to read out loud, and I very often was the "designated" reader. Far more fun than sitting there pretending to be interested while bored to tears.

I think a tribal life, very intimate connection with and dependence upon everyone else in the tribe, might be very comforting. However, when you are used to self-determination I don't think you can go back. It's isolated but compelling.
I think the two are compatible, in fact compulsory in a well ordered society. Today we deal with extremes that benefit a few. We have difficulty envisioning something functional.

Overall this is a very tame bunch.
Well, we are a bunch of ex-JW's after all! How wild are we gonna get? About the worst insult on this board is to tell someone they are still thinking like a JW.Baby, you have no idea! The wildest are often those who have recently gained freedom. We do have our bouncers here, so your point is valid. Distract those bouncers though for a time...and we would see some interesting extremes.
