  Path,
  I've never heard those words before. I know those words. Those words describe my life as a JW before I realized I was being taught to hate, not love. I hope I'm free...I worry that I'm still a captive.

  I had written this, but decided not to "share" it until I read your post:
  

  I apprectiate your still being strong in the Truth and I admire your courage to mingle with what other Witnesses may term "apostates". We don't exactly like that term to be applied to ourselves, as many of us still have a belief in Jehovah and His promises, it's just that our consciences don't permit us to follow a man-made religion.

  this is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.

  we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.

  we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.

  I did have more to say about this subject, just not the time. I made my quick post to help keep the peace.
  Path's comment to LDH, which is referred to, offended me. It's the only thing I've ever heard Path say that I didn't like. I kept quiet because it was NONE OF MY BUSINESS.
  I'm setting my Tipi up in the camp of Like-to-hear-personal-details-about-people-and-their-families-becuase-it-allows-me-to-get-to-know-them-better-and-see-them-as-more-than-just-cardboard-cutouts.
  I'll comment on the *real* topic later, when I have time. I've got to go to a meeting now (nooooo, not that kind of meeting).

  i'm not sure i'm putting this in the right place.

  i'm even a little hesitant to do this but i have finally decided to try, for a while at least.

  a lot of the comments that i have read seem somewhat harsh toward the witnesses.

  I just wanted to stop in and say Hi! Sorry I missed this post. This site has been a lot busier that normal lately and so have I.
  I just recently started investigating the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses on the net and at first I was offended at the tone of some of the sites, so I stayed away from those. There's a lot of neutral sites though. Take your time and read, read, read.
  Hope you stick around a while.

  Where is their any evidence that I need to learn to control that fire? It is not I who has not lost my temper in the tiniest bit - only some weak-minded ones whose weakness of mind caused them to be seduced away from the truth in the first place!

  You must visit an eye-specialist. In the photograph, I have both my eyes closed, the sun was really bright.

  
  My eyesight is not an issue here. My monitor is large, fairly new and of high quality. It’s obvious that your left eye is closed. It appeared that your right eye was open. I thought you were winking! It saddens me to think that you took offense at this. Perhaps you could pull that cascading lock of hair to one side so we can see both of your eyes?
  I don’t often give advice on this DB, but as I have been personally involved in this misunderstanding might I suggest you take action to prevent others from making a similar mistake? What I have in mind is you posting a disclaimer of sorts at the bottom of the screen. I think something like this “ My eyes are closed.”, or even better (this has a nicer ring to it) “ The light has blinded me and so I have closed my eyes”.

  I don’t think I mind being called an apostate. I willing apostatized from the Catholic Church to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. But a liar? Seldom has anyone called me that.

This is where I left off. “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and be pure and blameless until the day of Christ,(Philippians 1:9,10)

  From your first post my heart went out to you! How I lost sleep worrying about those elders who were giving you inappropriate counsel. I have been praying to Jehovah to give you strength and in just a few days he has! Who can doubt that the hand of God is at work here.
  I know you are on fire. I can see it in your eyes, or eye anyways. Learn to control that fire and you can become a volcano. Yes! A Christian volcano serving the True God. You are an inspiration to us all.

  when reading the new world translation i used to sometimes think, who translated this gobbledygook?..

  i just read another passage where the nwt manages to slaughter the english language.. acts 21:30 .

  nwt ...., and a running together of the people occurred:.... kjv ..., and the people ran together:.... niv ..., and the people came running from all directions.. this is an excerpt from the foreword of the nwt; it is a very responsible thing to translate the holy scriptures........into modern speech.

  Your observations on the NWT are interesting but incorrect.

  
  I think my observation was correct. The phrasing used in the NWT at Acts 21:30 is awkward. There is no reason for this awkward wording. Therefore my inference that the translators did a poor job is appropriate. The KJV and NIV do a much better job. Their wording is much more fluid and conveys the same meaning. I don’t need to study biblical Greek to recognize bad English.
  My reluctance to use the NWT goes far beyond the instances in which the translators chose sloppy wording in an attempt to strictly adhere to tenses, mood, and voice of verbs and participles. I think all credibility was lost when the decision was made to replace words that clearly had other meanings with the name Jehovah. Beyond that are the passages identified in the footnotes of the NWT (With References) in which words were inserted, omitted or changed at the discretion of the translators to convey a specific thought or meaning.
  The idea of the NWT being the “Rolls Royce” of Bible translations is entirely new to me. I’m not an expert on this subject but I have read opinions of those who are. Many scholars wonder why the translators have never been identified, and more importantly, what their credentials are.
  If Fred Franz was one of the translators of the NWT, as my friend believes and you seem to believe, what are his credentials? I have seen nothing to indicate that he was ever qualified to undertake such an endeavor.
  The conversation that I referred to between myself and the “X-DO, Gilead graduate was private and I choose to not further elaborate on that subject. I was intentionally vague when I mentioned this discussion, only using three of his words “cursory and superficial” (knowledge of Greek), because I had not and still have not, obtained his permission to discuss it. If you or anyone else feels “cursory and superficial” is inaccurate, then please provide F. Franz’s credentials and let us make our own informed conclusions.
  I wonder why you doubt that a DO and Gilead graduate has ever “seen or opened” a Greek lexicon? You have, why not them? I would expect this to occur out of curiosity if nothing else.
  I am disappointed that brothers are not encouraged to engage in pure theological research but only use the Society’s publications. That to me is the definition of a follower of man not God.
  I am interested in any information you could provide to indicate that Biblical Scholars view the NWT as the “Rolls Royce” of bible translations. I am very interested in who the translators of the NWT were, as well as any evidence indicating that they were qualified to undertake a task of such magnitude.
