ok, i've done the beer survey, now its the mixed drinks survey.. i personally like the 4 horseman (1/4 jack 1/4 rum 151, 1/4 everclear, and 1/4 tequila).

it'll put you on your ass quick.

hi... i'm octavia, and i'm an ex-jehovah's witness.

I'm from Minnesota and new too. Today school was canceled because of cold brrrr weather! I drive a school bus and that means I can have a drink before 5:00 today!!! I'll toast you with my brandy and 7-up around 4:00

did anyone watch dr. phil yesterday?.

they were talking about addictions, sex, pills, food - things that start out small, easily hidden, even socially acceptable - but then get out of hand and start controlling you.

then it becomes destructive, counter-productive and life threatening.

It's -34, and I'm shoveling snow!

yeah, it's -34 degrees celcius, windchill is in the -50s (i guess their scale doesn't go any lower) and the boss came by to ask me to shovel snow.

various schools have been closed, apparently it's colder here than many places up north, and here i am, an electronics technician who just finished a college course which half was paid by the company, and i'm shoveling snow.

the measley 24 cent raise i got this year isn't worth it.

Wow! Glad I'm not the only one thats got cold weather! We had -24 this morning with -56 windchill. They kept school going tho. I drive a school bus and everytime I open the door, all the cold air rushes up on my legs! All the kids were bundled up so much that I couldn't even see their faces! Probably just as well, they're all crabby in the morning. Oh! And Duluth got 2 feet of snow the last couple of days! Am I complaining?

I believe in God. Not the way the JW's depict him as being. I walk in the woods and feel the wind on my face and I think of him. I see the color of the fall leaves and admire them and think of him. I look at the deer in my feeder and think of him.....I look at everything new in the spring and think of him. I don't buy the JW's story about him. I know he cares about us. Thats all I need right now. One day at a time. Stop and look around you. Don't worry about what's next. Enjoy your newfound freedom.

I'm sooooo happy to be out of that religion. I wonder about alot of things too. We can't answer everything. And....neither can the WTS. Look inside yourself......thats the most important step.

What Motivates You to Expose the "Truth About the Troof" to Active JW's?

while responding to another thread, i was thinking about how so many of us talk about trying to help "believing dubs" out from the clutches of the wt, while at the same time, it occurred to me that we probably all have different motivations for doing so.

as for me, i am motivated to get my parents out because i think they have the right to know "the whole story" - not just the candy-coated version the wt espouses, so they can make better decisions about how they want to live the rest of their lives.

right now the wt makes all their life decisions for them - including whether or not they should look at what the "other side" has to say about them.

I too am selfish. I would like to see the watchtower crumble. For all the things I missed, holidays, college education, happiness, being looked at as normal and having a normal family life.

I really wish that my Mom was allowed to see the other side of the coin too. Then she could make her own choice if this is the right way to go. I could accept her staying with the JW's if she did all her research and then decided she wanted to stay. They all have tunnel vision. They only look ahead at the carrot. How sad. I miss my mom too. Although I don't miss the constant nagging about how I should come back to the hall. She says she's lonely being the only JW in the family. Well...I'm lonely too being the only child and not having a mom in the free world.

My Dad and I talked about this very subject last Christmas. We both want her to come out of the black hole in her life that makes her so unhappy. But is it better for her to die thinking she's going to be resurrected in a paradise earth or for her to know the truth about the truth and realize she's wasted her whole life on nothing more than a dream? Which would be better? She's getting old now.....is it too late to enjoy whats left of life?

what other explanation can there be?

look at how he treats us.. 1. his angel deceives eve who was still childlike( she couldn't even cloth herself properly,god provided clothing for them ) so he punishes them instead of this angel who he names satan.

2. his angellic sons come down to earth and turn the whole place into a drunken brawl so he destroyes all mankind with a flood but not the angels.

Thats why I decided not to serve this cruel God anymore. I had enough. I just couldn't understand why He always had to test us and even after the 1000 years. Is he that insecure that he always has to throw obstacles in our way to see if we keep serving him and only him? Don't you find that a little hard to keep believing? I thought he was a god of love? I couldn't buy that story anymore. The WTS paints him as a demanding, insecure, impatient, mean God. I was always afraid of him as a child. That shouldn't be the way we serve God.

Who is leading this organization?

when i was still a jw, i thought that god was really working through these men at the wts.

i trusted them and i believed everything they printed to us.

now that i am out for so many years and can stand back and look at the organization without a brainwashed mind, i really wonder who runs this.
