I read in our local paper about the churches in town having all these youth programs. I thought how nice it would have been to have these. They even raise money to take the older youths overseas to help with building projects for less fortunate people in underdeveloped countries. What a great way to teach the youth! To help people and not just think of themselves. Sometimes I think the JW's don't really care about the children until they're old enough to be baptized and then send them out in the preaching work to find more poor unsuspecting souls. Have you noticed how they start to notice what they do when they get to a certain age? Yep..time to get them polished to spread the word.

Kids and meetings
by Stefanie ini remember when they would discourage kids from taking colors or coloring books to the meetings.
so i thought ok, i will give my kid a pen and my book of bible stories to keep him busy.
then they said that was a bad idea because he might write on the furniture and it wasnt good to teach them to write on the wbt publications.

Welcome!
I couldn't do anything as a teenager either. I didn't have any friends at school and I didn't have any friends at the hall. My dad wasn't a JW and so I really wasn't in to alot of stuff at the hall. The only thing that kept me from going under were my horses. I could be free when I'd go out and ride! Met a few boys too! Thank God my mother didn't know, but what I'm saying is that it gave me some freedom to be a normal teenager. I don't know what I would have done without that.
I think Frannie Banannie made a good point about the Child Protective Services. They would be more than glad to help you out and maybe get you in a new place to sort things out without everyone pressuring you at home. It will probably get the elders off your back too. Good Luck!

Wow! Love your work! Are you faking it about being an elder? Hmmmm I'm beginning to wonder about you......
I have some hobbys. We have alot of land and it's full of trees. I like to peel the pine and balsam trees and make crafts. Log lamps and little tables. My latest one was a small balsam tree with it's root. I peeled it and it turned out so cool. My husband puts the electrical stuff in it. I'm not very good with that stuff. Anyway I guess you could call me a woodsy type person!

Funny you should mention Zelda. My son and I have gotten to know eachother by playing Zelda and Baulders gate. I know that they are considered dungeons and dragons, but they are really fun. I don't think of them as bad? I LOVE baulders gate 1&11. Does anyone play Baulders gate? I would really love to know!

Did You Ever Think That The Demons Were After You?
by minimus ini know so many jws that love to think satan and his demons are after them.
if they were being "persecuted", it was because of the devil and his demons.
if they got an ache or pain, it was because satan was trying to "discourage" them.......did you think the demons were trying to get you, too?

When I was younger, my mom had me so scared of demons. One night I laid awake and thought they were all around me! I ran to her room and she said all these prayers out loud trying to scare them away. I think it actually made her happy that she did scare them away. You know the saying about yelling Jehovahs name out loud? Well she sure did. I bet the neighbors were ready to call the police!

Remember traveling to the conventions
by Strawberryfieldsforever ini remember years ago when my mom and i would travel great distances to the week long conventions.
we always had to travel with another sister whos husband was also "unbelieving".
anyway, her daughter and i would put the watchtower and awake mags in the back window to show everyone who we were.

Either we got the finger or the thumbs up from other JW"s. Do any of you remember doing that? I remember years later they said we couldn't do that anymore. Wonder why?

When God becomes a Drug
by Will Power indid anyone watch dr. phil yesterday?.
they were talking about addictions, sex, pills, food - things that start out small, easily hidden, even socially acceptable - but then get out of hand and start controlling you.
then it becomes destructive, counter-productive and life threatening.
