I was always afraid to speak up. I was programed to believe that Jehovah was taking care of things and just using the elders to do it. I would end up losing in the end......

Would You Stick Up For A Friend If They Were Being Dealt With Unjustly?
by minimus ini knew many people in the congregation that were dealt with terribly.
but most times, people were afraid to talk to the elders or were afraid they might get shunned by the more prominent ones in the congregation.
so they closed their eyes to their own friends being treated poorly and carried on as if nothing really was happening.

WTS can expand but can we?
by Strawberryfieldsforever inmy husband was saying the other day how the wts can build all these new buildings and use modern technology to further themselves.
but we get looked down on if we build a new house or buy a new computer or new car etc......back when we were in there, they even looked down on starting our own business.
they kept saying it was too materialistic.

I finally finished "Crisis of Conscience"
by Nosferatu inlast night, i decided to finally finish off the book.
it takes me forever to read a book, and after a year, i've finally completed it.
quite a good book, although i found myself skimming through the last chapter called "perspective".

I really enjoyed CofC. I even gave it to my neighbor and after she read it she said she plans to use it in her church for information to help JW's get out. I thought that was really cool. I thought it was humbly written and not out to get the WTS.

How to take down the WTS. Maybe for good.
by avishai ini just heard the most brilliant plan ever.
we draft an all purpose legal document to send to the wts stating that "i,__________ do not want any jw's ever coming to my door, please put me on the do not call list and send this to the congregation nearest me, if they do, i will construe this as harrasment and act accordingly" .
then we pass these out, do a mass mailing, give them to all of our friends, encourage people to make copies and give them to their friends, call it the sleep in on saturday document.

I agree with Freedom96.
They'll think it's a sign of the end. I try to imagine what my mother would think.....I know she would say its persecution just like the society said. Stronger they would become and start counting the days until Armaggedon.

I've finally made a decision
by J.R.R.Watchtower inhi friends!.
i've finally made a decision: i wil leave the wt in december 2004 or january 2005. please let me explain how i would manage this and i will also like to know your point of view or any other thing you would want to say.. i live in spain (as some of you know) in a city where there are 20 congregations.
i think that the elders would like to know the reason why i'm moving to another congregation.

I think it's great that you have a plan. It seems like a long time tho.....but then again, some of us here took a long time too. We can't say what to do unless we walk a miles in your shoes. Good luck and welcome to the board. I look forward to talking to you this next year. You'll need some friends while you make this big step!!!

my first post in this forum
by trumangirl inhello, just introducing myself.
i'm an inactive witness, been so for a few months now.
got put off mostly by 1914 being hammered more and more lately, the child molestation issue, the un-ngo thing and just feeling like i don't want to shoot my mouth off and get labelled apostate so best to fade out.

What did you do with all your WT literature?
by Nosferatu injust saw valis' burning wt again.
there was a thread on this a long time ago, and it was funny as hell!.
so, what did you do with all your wt literature?

We burned them all on the brush pile. Even the fancy bibles with leather and all the song books. The only thing I have left are those cassette tapes of "My book of bible stories" and the "Kingdom melodies". Anyone have any good ideas for getting rid of them? Throwing them in the garbage just seems too nice.....

UN scandal...again
by yxl1 ini popped round to my mothers the other day, not realising she had the book study at her house.
luckily it had almost finished so i waited around.
once finished the elder shook my hand and asked me what i was doing now.

Wouldn't it be neat if everyone on this board put an ad in the paper for one week. It would have to be short and well worded (or most JW's will not read it). Mentioning the UN scandal and maybe they should check it out. It's fun to dream.......

What shocks me is the fact that many JW's don't even know about this. I wish there was a way to get the word out to all of them. What can a person do? Put an ad in the newspaper? There must be some way.....
