I was also told that God will turn off the sex drive. And my Mom said she heard from a brother that all families would own 5 acres of land so they can plant and grow their own food and take care of themselves. I was thinking....what if my 5 acres happen to be around the North Pole???

The elderly
by moses ini feel for the elderly who have put all thier hopes in the society and now really have no one to turn to.my mom is reaching 70 and was converted in the late 60s she still believes it is the truth but i think because she has nowhere else to go i think it is true also for all the elderly in the hall i bet some still believe some of the old doctines and have no idea about the new ones but are still hanging on because they feel thier is nowhere else to go, they basically sacrifsied thier lifes for the organazation.

Moses,
My mom is close to 70 too and got the "truth" in the late 60's!! I feel the same way you do. Where can they go now? I think they just keep going without even thinking about it anymore. Even if something drastic happens in the organization, they will simply block their mind to it. They don't want to know........they just keep hanging on to that dream they've been following all their life.

how did you deal with it?.

Hi Desib77.
I've been out for 13 years now. I haven't been df'd or da'd. I did the slow fade. Because of that my Mom still talked to me for awhile. She would always tell me scary things about the time of the end and that we should want to be in good standing with Jehovah so we don't lose our life. It always scared me and I felt so sick with fear. I avoided talking to her so I didn't have to listen to it anymore. I think I tried for a while to keep her in my life, but found that I couldn't move forward. She held me back because I was always tip toeing around issues to make her feel good. I had to go on with my life. I wanted to vote and celebrate holidays. I was free now of the JW mindset and was excited to enter the real world. Unfortunately, my Mom wasn't part of my new life nor did she have any interest in it. She only wanted me to be part of her JW life. She had love for me, but as I found out, it was only on her terms.
My neighbor told me once that if my Mom didn't want to be part of my non JW life, then that was HER choice. I guess thats very true. I know that you must feel terrible about losing your Mom. I did too. But as time goes on, I am finding other beautiful loving honest people to help fill the void. Find some! Contrary to what we've been taught at the hall, there are wonderful people out there that you can trust and that will love you unconditionally. I hope this helps a little. Hang in there and remember, that you are important too and what you want to do with your life. Don't forget that!

Please Welcome kidneybean
by outnfree insome of you will remember that i occasionally brag on my dear friend, jann, who has been such a wonderful, caring friend to me since i moved to michigan from ontario over 10 years ago and whose love and support i could not have done without recently when my mother fell ill and then died.
(rayzor is a cheerleader of hers, too!
) well, ten days ago, she finally joined the forum as "kidneybean," a reference to her new lease on life since last august thanks to an organ donor.

My baptism back into the world - my story
by a wee scots lass ini was raised in 'the truth ' from the age of 9, when my parents came 'into the truth'.
i was the perfect little witness girl, went out in field service - without complaint, gave talks (well the way you do in two's when you are female!
), i was even on the list of people they called on when someone did not turn up to give their talk and would get up with only 30 min prep time!
