Englishman, whilst the emotion is fear that drives them back. I think at the end of the day it is because people who leave JWs or other cults need DEprogramming. It's interesting that we have met up with people who left the org 15 - 20 years ago, but set of a trigger word and you would swear they had read the latest WT! They still live in constant terror of Armageddon with the extra slow, crisp fry option with fries. I am sure if I tried hard I could whisk up a 4 Scripture sermon again, although ozzie post tells me the slacko's have reduced this to a 1 scripture, or was that a 1 minute sermon.

What My JW Family Members say....is this typical?
by dins ini went to see my grandmother today, who has been a jw pioneer for going on 60 years and is still pioneering.
this is what she told me.. she said that they had their one-day assembly yesterday and that attendance was high.
she said that there was someone there from bethel in ny, who told everyone his experience of the attack on tuesday.

Well that's another #million Awakes to be sold @ ? how much a copy. JWs could not "sell" their message without all the literature. JWs are only one of or the biggest printing company in the world. Take their literature away, and what would you have left? A 10 minute Bible reading once a week? A hard road ahead of you. We had our JW in laws living with us at the time - we just kept feeding them with evidence of what corruptions the Scty had been involved in since its beginnings - they were d/f one year later. My family - totally opposite. You could not have a conversation without getting heated and into a drama. My father even said that if the WT green Bible was wrong - then Jehovah was a liar? So in the end left them alone. There is no one answer or direction. Each situation is unique Cheers

Anyone up on witness dogma?
by FrightMare inanyone here know if witnesses are allowed to serve in the military?
i know they're not allowed to fight in war, but are they allowed to be chefs for soldiers, for example.. when cornelius became christian, the bible doesn't say that he left his military career.. furthermore, matthew 5:41: "if someone in authority impresses you for a mile, go with him two miles.".
any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Dungbeetle, (incidentally very valuable creatures) there are more rules here than the Scribes and Pharisees made up concerning the Sabbath!!

Little Toe, what new stance on blood. Must have missed that one. Do we remove all those bulky "how to" manuals from our ER now?

Fredhall, That's true Fred. But the Bible is VERY prescriptive on lots of issues, headcovering, cogregation management, baptism, etc. (NOT discussing interpretation here) and if it was wrong to remain in the military, wouldn't it have said so? Who are you without the organisation Fred?

Tatiana,
I feel the same way.But even find myself avoiding movies - like Schindler's list - didn't see it until years after it came out. I just weep at the pain and suffering - and the scale is just so overwhelming and it never seems to stop. I worked with a an outwardly appearing, soft spoken Pakistani doctor, young man he was - gracious, courteous, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth a few years ago. Until my boss, a woman Hindu/Roman Catholic Indian doctor started rubbishing Islam. Well, talk about Jekyl & Hyde. While we were going down the freeway at 110 kms he was raging about Allah being the greatest, we are nothing, I will die for Allah etc. I actually asked him would be kill for Allah, there was no hesitation, that whatever Allah wanted he would do". There was some reason he could not go back and live in Pakistan and had his own group using the internet for writing newspapers etc. I started studying Islam then, even obtained a copy of the Satanic Verses. Books written by women, Professors - how terrifying - but my outrage..how thankful that thus far we are in a "free" world. Our local areas have been used as a dumping ground for immigration which causes a lot of problems, but thankfully the government is constantly admonishing moderation - and so far we've had no serious incidents. But certainly we now feel, that if this can happen in America...Cheers Anne -

Thanks Tatiana,
Everytime we are on the verge of war, or atrocities occur somewhere, as you say, it's the women & kids. I often despair that man never learns. The Syrians were flaying alive their victims thousands of years ago, and on it goes...same story, different or similar methods. Not one country is clean, what's that saying, something like "if you don't learn from history you are doomed to repeat it". By the way, I had a most beautiful deep red velvet rose once called Tatiana with the most heavenly perfume. This variety had won many medals for its beauty and perfume. Cheers Amos -

Thanks for your comments. Just a couple of questions, is our news in Oz different to yours in US. (1) we have never heard any news comments here (CNN included) that mass bombing was even contemplated for Afghanistan and that (2) Pakistan had already agreed to support the Amercians to let them in. From what we are hearing here, it is this Bin or Ben whathisname they are after - IF AND WHEN they have the evidence that he was involved. Sorry, the Taliban IS the government, even if they just won it through a civil war. Can you clarify. Thanks.

Ozziepost, I forgot. Does their education program reveal the high rate of JW suicides and does the health issues cover mental health issues for JWs? Or does it only apply to the general public. Odd that a people, the only ones in the world who supposedly have God's spirit, that so many would choose suicide and have mental health problems 16 times that of the national Ozzie population. Cheers

Ozziepost, you mean that JWs educational work has highlighted the problem of child abuse within the organisation? I have notified a government department to monitor this site as JWs may choose not to notify child abuse (or suspect) cases but handle it for themselves. Can you please send me an email re the location of the BBQ. ta
