  I was walking downtown and went past some poor tired old man. He was
  supposed to be standing up outside the coffee shop handing out his
  religion's pamphlets, but instead the poor old guy was sound asleep in the
  warm morning sunshine sitting upright on a bench. Good for him though - he
  kept holding the magazine upright even as he slept, in case someone wanted
  one. The name of the Magazine ? " Awake!".

  Dusty, man, there's nothing in this world that money can't solve...you know, just slip a twenty here and there, catch my drift?

  Seriously though, like it's been said before, if there aren't two witnesses, they can't do anything. Even if they tried to get her df'd for loose conduct (if she sleeps at your place and the two of you are alone) they still need two witnesses to prove that she spent the night at your place. But then again, we are talking about jws here, so if the elders really want to df your gf, then they will do it. Good Luck.

  I remember this one dream when I was a kid. It was about paradise earth. I don't remember many specific details about the dream, but I do remember that it scared the hell out of me, hence why I still remember it today. I also remember that when I would think about what could happen at armagueddon, it always gave me this empty feeling inside, so then at a young age i decided to no longer think about it.

  ...have they justified the un involvement to you by saying that the wts was only getting information for their magazines, that they weren't "aiding" them in their political work, so the involvement was ok?.

  imo, there is no justification for the un invovement.

  how do you reason with your family when they defend the actions of the wts?

  What you wrote reminds me of an experience I had discussing with jws online. I tried to bring up the UN issue with them, and at first they said those were lies spread by "opposers". Then, I posted the direct link to the page on the UN's website where there was a link to the letter. At first, they denied that it was the UN website, but then when i gave them the homepage link and directed them thru the website to get to the letter, they were forced to acknowledge that it was in fact the official UN website. But then they refused to even look at the letter, and just said that it was all lies from "opposers".

  So, I understand your frustration, just the fact that they won't even look at facts or evidence presented to them. It is too often the case that "jw", and "reason" do not belong together.

  JWs and Evolution - Reasoning with the "facts" ?

  i am in the process of hunting down every "source" the jws use in their books to "discredit" evolution.

  i think it could be fun.

  It has been done before, in fact I remember reading online about all the misquotes and misrepresentations in the Creation book. It's staggering how dishonest they are with this book, I'm sure someone here will have more info then I have, but just stick with the Creation book, and it should keep you busy for awhile.

  Just had surgery...

  yesterday i joined the "surgery club"...can't say i wish to keep being a member.

  it was a same day surgery, but should have stayed at lest overnight.

  didn't sleep much last night, as the pain meds made me itch terribly.

  New Announcement At The Memorial?

  i was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about an announcement to be made at the memorial this year?

  my family is repeatedly pressuring me to go and the newest approach is that they've heard about an announcement, never made before, that concerns innactive ones or ones who have fallen away,, that is all that they would tell me.

  are they going to come find and disfellowship us unless we go back or can we now come back "no questions asked" (yah right)?

  I haven't heard of any special announcements and I still go to meetings. Although i have missed alot of meetings recently, so I could be out of the loop.
