My life ... and how JWD came to be - Part 3
by Simon infor me, the walls of the watchtower were not destroyed by a single giant cannon-ball but rather every brick had been weakened and suddenly the whole thing just 'collapsed'.. i've alwys been an avid reader and a firm believer that you can learn anything and everything from a good book.
anyway, i was reading a bad book, the creation book, and this time things were different.. normally, the mere thought that the wts could "not be right" could not even be contemplated.
it was like you can't even comprehend the concept or understand the question, least of all imagine it.. yet now, i read the book and things were screaming at me from the pages.

Does it ever get easier?
by Surfacing inmy heart is palpitating even as i write this.
it was only recently that i was introduced to this site.
i had long had doubts but could never bring myself to peer over the wall built in my head about the evils of apostates.

Hi Surfacing.
what a good post.
It will get better as time goes by.You are a good person and you dont need the watchtower to prove that to yourself.
Just by reading your letter I can sense you have good qualities. The more you research and read you will be released from the shackles
of the Organization. I can only talk from my personal experience but as a third generation JW I can tell you what we have been taught is not true. As a Christian I believe you will see your father again as I will see mine..No you arent on the dark side, you have come into the light.
I hope things go well for you and your wife,

EX-JW's Fated To Quarrel.
by Englishman init's almost 32 years since i left the jw religion.
a bunch of us left around the same time, some were df'd, some weren't, one or two went back into the witnesses over the years.. one of the df'd one's became re-instated and last year i had the pleasure of sending him the letter that we sent to every congregation in the uk, the letter that announced that the wt was an ngo and, incidentally, the whole shebang was full of paedophiles and you lot were going to be on telly nexy week in bbc's panorama!
i digress... anyway, one thing quickly became very clear to those of us that were left.

Another factor came into play, one that was confirmed for me in the book "Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman. This was the simple fact that, although at the time we were all into our 20's and 30's, few of us had actually experienced a proper adolescence
That really hit home.I agree totally with your post.I knew there was a reason

Disrespectful
by finger inhi, just need to shout about something that happend today.
went to my grandfather in law funeral today in a church of england church, my bro in laws g/f is becoming a witness so she said that she would go to funeral but couldnt join in prayers and hymns fair enough i thought.
when we were seated she picked up the bible that was there for us and was making a show of reading something in it then turning to my bro in law and i could here her saying " they have translated it wrong" or something to that effect, then when the coffin was being brought in we all stood up which in my eyes was as a sign of respect to my grandad, she refused to stand up at any point apart from when we were leaving.

When my father died before the service I made it very clear I would walk out if they didnt say anything nice about my dad and his life
The poor brother stared at me the whole time. You could really see him trying to go off script. He did say a few more words than he normally would but not much.
My friend died in November and my husband came to her funeral with me, the first time in a catholic church for him
when the priest gave out the wafer, I thought he was going to run from the church. He said in a loud voice im not taking that
The moral is JWs shouldnt go to other religions funerals

A MUST--You won't regret it!!
by patio34 inhttp://www.themeatrix.com/
you've got to watch this - about the big agri-corporations and the food you eat.
turn up the volume; you won't want to miss any of the very creative and factual cartoon docu-drama.

Suffering does it have a good side?
by frankiespeakin ini know this is a touchy subject.
most people, hate suffering, and feel there is no good reason for a person to suffer.
i feel like that often, but less and less often.

What if satan were to change?
by robhic ini was wondering how this part of the bible can be taken seriously.
for thousand of years, it has been written down that satan will be thrown into the abyss along with his minions.
ok, so how incredibly stupid (is there even a limit?
