God - cannot be proven or dis-proven. Therefore, it is left open to a person to make up anything they want to believe on the matter. Why else would we have millions of different gods existing by those that believe in them?

Love is like God.
by The Rebel inneither, can be proven only to the believer can they exist.
we could therefore say that a persons feelings on god and love are simply chemical reactions produced by the brain.
however what i find interesting is that if a certain part of a persons brain gets damaged their personalities and emotions can radically change.. the rebel..

I wondered why this thread garnered 8 pages of comments but quickly realized that is precisely what happens when rediculous comparisons are made.
We all know that GOD IS LOVE. The bible is clear about love being Jehovah's cardinal attribute. <end of sarcasm>
A more fitting comparison would be God is like the monster under your bed as a small child. It's not real, induces fear, and can make you sound rediculous when you tell people about it.
But hey, at least belief in a god has helped society throughout the centuries to make humans more loving towards one another.

new arrangement - chairman
by inbetween ina thought on the emphasis of the importance of the new chairman arrangement at the midweek meeting:.
it reminds me of a tv-show, where the showmaster introduces tv-clips of some topics.. is it maybe a preparation for meetings with more and more videos ?.
and all the local brothers are doing is introducing them, creating anticipation for what big skydaddy prepared this week.. i wonder, if most of the meeting times in years to come will be videos anyway.....

I think you are spot on. More videos, less input from local elders, more deliberate and controlled indoctrination.
The percentage of tie-ins, videos, and manuscript style talks will gradually increase as the ship sinks.

This weeks service meeting! More craziness.....
by stuckinarut2 inso this weeks service meeting is so full of "crazy".
a whole 15 min part devoted to trying to indoctrinate everyone on how to "explain our beliefs on 1914".
then another 15 min part called "a tool to help us explain our beliefs about 1914".

Seriously someone could make up anything out of the bible by picking and choosing all these random scriptures and throwing in some false dates. Advertise it enough and I bet you could start a new religion
Throw in an article and a video and people will start explaining it to other people like it's true. Crazy world, crazy world.

The R&F will think:
We don't need the ministry school because soon the end will be here and there wont be a need for ministry. We need to live as Christians now to make sure we survive Armageddon.

I'm not so sure a bigger awakening is going to happen anymore
by bradford inwhen i left in march officially i started reading the forums here.
i had this excitement that more people would be leaving soon because of the crazy broadcasts, the crazy "new light" that the gb was dishing out, and more recently the australian royal commission lighting up geoffrey.
this past saturday i had an elder stop by to chat for the first time since i left.

@freemindfade - Thank you for putting in writing how I'm trying to feel. It is realistic and hopeful at the same time. -

@OneEyedJoe - It almost felt like a dip back into the ministry and remembering how I used to be as well which is a scary thought.
@_Morpheus - Maybe I didn't think it was going to be a sudden reform, but thought at least a few more eyes would be opened to the matrix than normal I guess.

This past Saturday I had an elder stop by to chat for the first time since I left. I don't know if he was here to talk to my wife who has been inactive and not been to a meeting since January or to talk to me but either way..I was outside doing yard work and he had no choice but to approach me.
He wanted to let me know I could talk to him about any doubts or wanted to know if anyone did something to hurt my feelings and all that. I didn't want to get into a conversation about all the things I now know that he has no clue about but he pushed me and we had a decent civil conversation. He eventually left and maybe he will think about some of the things I said..maybe he won't but the whole thing kind of hit me hard.
Maybe I haven't fully given up on all my past friends and relationships yet and I wanted to think that some will wake up, but I think I need to put that to rest in my mind or I will only be led to be disappointed.
Anyone else feel the same or gone through something similar?

Going Nuclear - Marriage
by Sofia Lose inhas anyone here gone nuclear on their spouse and, all of a sudden, came out in the open as a jw opposer?.
by this i mean, sitting them down and saying: i no longer want to be a jw anymore, do not want to go to meetings or preaching anymore!
and, what has happened in the relationship after that?.

I was lucky. The moment I brought up 607, 1914, questions, questions, and more questions. .she said "that sounds like apostasy, you should talk to the elders." I told her I would but I doubted anything would come of it. She said that was fine she would rather me make a decision then fake it. Nothing she hates more than a faker.
I DA'd and she hasn't been to a meeting since January. We've had a rough time adjusting to the brand new people that we are becoming but so worth it.
