When did district conventions become regional conventions and why?
by slimboyfat ini think it was gary and heather bottings' book the orwellian world of jehovah's wifnesses that noted the function of the habit of the watchtower organisation of changing organisational terminology periodically.
congregations became companies and then back to congregations again.
circuit overseers became circuit servants and then back again.

I think this is just regular old marketing and rebranding as new pieces move in and out of departments who make these milestone changes.
The reality is they can market this crap however they want, it isn't helping any more.

New NWT deception at Genesis 8:22 to indicate earth remains forever.
by jwfacts ini could not find mention of this before.
i was reading genesis 8:22 in the niv and was surprised i had never noticed that this verse gives the impression that the earth will not remain forever.
genesis 8:22 stated by god after the flood, when promising to never again destroy all living creatures.. as long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.

Couldn't the WTS just say the phrase "as long as" doesn't mean there is a finite time for the earth, but instead, the wording means that no matter how long the earth is remaining (forever), the important part of the verse is that there will be seasons and days and nights.
It is a testament to their deceptiveness in choosing doctrinal-friendly wording. Nothing earth shattering, pun intended.

I am 50/50 on it. I am mostly a very active and productive person when I get high, but sometimes if I have stress from work or life and I'm not eating right or hydrated I can get serious anxiety.
If you are prone to get anxiety I would stay away from caffeine if you plan on getting baked.

Figured out why I woke up from all this
by bradford ini have always thought that i figured things out when i decided to research the generation, 607, 1914, etc.. i had an epiphany and realized it was triggered much earlier.
about 2 years ago for some odd reason, while i was a very solid witness, i started reading the news, landed on a random article about scientology, and eventually a book written by jenna miscavige called beyond belief.
she writes about growing up in the religion, the leaders who she was related to, and how she left.

I think I was immediately in denial of the similarities but the connection was made and it was only a matter of time. -

Anyone else read this book or have a similar experience?

Are we participants in this forum because of bouts of "loneliness"?
by Wonderment ini wonder how many of us here hold on to this meeting place out of "loneliness.
could it be that we harbor feelings of "abandonment" and "loneliness" from being left cold and dry by the wt people and our families?
perhaps we do have a need to reach out to people with similar experiences.

What is the monthly stipend that the bethelites receive every month?

does any one has an actual number?

Not much at all when they have to travel to meetings and service 3 days a week. Usually Bethelites have a cell phone paid for by a sponsor or family member. They eat well. Don't pay utilities or rent. Actually doesn't seem terrible in the JW world. -

Eliminate the need for cars, health insurance, car insurance, and an allowance across all circuits and they've found themselves quite the cost savings.
I'm sure they can get a zealous couple with a cleaning business paying young brothers and sisters minimum wage to travel a circuit on their own dime and not miss a beat.

Caleb and Sofia used to brainwash children
by shattered_origins inokay, i need to vent.
as a newly awoken individual, i have yet to "come out" to my hard core jdub parents.
my plan was to lay low and use my unbelieving husband and baby as an excuse for my "inactivity", it has worked for the last few months.

My mom (witness) tried to do the same to my nieces (sister is non witness). Soon my 3 year old niece was talking about Jehovah and singing songs.
Bottom line: cartoons work.
My sis put a stop to it right away after asking me if I thought it was a big deal. They are indoctrination techniques to have children accept cult teachings that lay the foundation for all the nonsense to follow it.
