First of all, you should treat him like a grown man who can make up his own mind about things. If you want to get together with him I suggest you contact him but I would hesitate to bring up religeon. He has had a lifetime to people telling him how to live and what to do and to feel guilty about everything. Just be cool and don't force holidays on him like it's some sort of victory as that will turn him off. Remember he has had to live with the thought that God was going to execute you at Armegeddon so it would have been difficult to have much of a relationship. It takes a while for people to find their 'center' after leaving the church. For a while he may be still under the 'influence' but the best thing you can do is to make him feel like family and he should be OK.

You'll die if you don't go to meetings
by Bonnie_Clyde inlast sunday's watchtower admits (p. 17) that "we are not under the mosaic law.
" but in the next paragraph it says that just as the tithing arrangement was not optional for the israelites, meeting attendance is also not optional for christians.
the first page of the february 2004 kingdom ministry tells us why.

If any person executed their children for not going to church they would be considered the worst kind of criminal. Evidently Jehovah is even worse than Hitler since he intends to execute billions of people. I thought the bible said we were made in his image and that he is the embodiment of love? Oh well... what do I know?

Are YOU: rh negative ?
by RAYZORBLADE ini have always found the topic of blood/hematology, fascinating, and even moreso, the discussions regarding: rh compatibility.. are you rh negative?
if so, do you know your alpha designation: o, a, b, or ab ?.
even if someone is not interested, nor willing to take a blood transfusion, if you are a woman, and you are rh negative, and your husband/partner is rh positive, you can bet your bottom dollar, it'll matter in the near future.

I am A+ and my wife is O-. Back in 1973 when we were just 'studying' she became pregnant. We were told in no uncertain terms that it was against God's law on blood to receive the rhogam (sp?) shot. The child was OK and then we had two more over the next three years. Finally when she was pregnant with the fourth in 1978 it died due to the antibodies produces because of the blood difference. Before she lost the baby she called the 'society' and talked to a doctor there. He just reamed her out for not taking the rhogam shot!!!??? What the #$@#$%? Nice.
I lost a son and nearly lost my wife because we were naive enough to believe that crap.

Do I have to be enrolled?!!! Question
by Doubtfully Yours inas you all know, i'm still a jw in 'good standing' albeit labeled 'spiritually weak' because i miss many meetings and turn in the lowest service time possible each month.
all part of the slowest 'fade' ever known.. having said that, i'm always looking for ways to minimize interaction with the jw organization.
so, my question is..... do i really have to be enrolled in the ministerial school and give parts, or can i not be enrolled and still be considered a jw in 'good standing'???.

What's the difference? Just be straight up and resign from the school. It's no ones business as to why. I suggest you either fish or cut bait because the slow fade will take it's toll on you. Why turn in the minimum time when you can turn in NONE?

First post for me - just signed up. But this is a subject I have an opinion on...
Questions: 1. What defines a 'rich' person? 2. Why should they pay more tax than anyone else? Other than simply because they have the ability to pay. 3. Do the 'rich' use more public resources than regular people?
In the USA more than two thirds of the income tax revenue is paid by the top 10% of the income earners. So are the 'rich' not paying their share as well as lot more? Fully 96% of the tax bill is paid by the top 50% of earners which is anyone earning over 27,000 AGI in the year 2000. Personally I am in the top 5% of wage earners and my group pays 57% of the tax received.
I am tired of people thinking they have the right to take my hard earned money and re-allocate it to those who earn less.
I agree the system could be simplified.
With the Alternative Minimum Tax as well as other loop holes closed it is not possible for the rich to legally shelter all of their income and pay no taxes at all.
One other thing.... as a 'rich' person I create a lot of employment for others which adds to our economic base and increases tax revenue.
