why are jw's so haughty about the bible?

having to deal with my dad and my brother any question you raise to them they act like your an complete a##hole.

Its the us and them out look, " we are good your not, you will die we won't".

Look at it this way they control most everything you do, clothes you wear, how you wear your hair how long or how short on top of you head or on your face, where you drink your beer, what kind of sex you have with your mate, if you go to school or not (higher education), where you work, what holidays you enjoy, how much you can drink in your own home, what books you read in your own home, what web sites you search out this one included, what bibles you should use, what friends you should have, how high your skirts should be, if you should hunt or not, if you shoulld date a women or a man or not and test drive thhem to see if you want to spend the rest of your life with them ( I mean really I don't buy a car till I test drive it), what kind of wedding you can have big one perferably small to them, if you can have a party with booze, if you can go to a block party, what kind of music you can listion too.

hello, my name's daniel and i'm new to the forum.... i was raised a witness for the first 14 years of my life and then finally got out when my dad turned atheist...i live in ottawa, ontario of canada... i'm 21 now... still kind of unaccustomed to the world at large, if you catch my drift.

I was raised a witness, too for forty years till till my wife of 20 years ran off with a known child abuser who attended meetings; and she let him abuse my daughter, and still to a degree defends him. I was healing from a bad head injury at the time, and with the help of my older daughter we put his rear back in jail. The elders offered NO help for me to seek justice for my daughter, so, sense then I realized (brain storm) the witness's are FUBAR. But that is not to say it is not hard to shed their ideas and thinking in general. I look over my sholder even now from the elders from every corner; now this was a big misteak I had a old elder study with me and my new wife for a few months, that was a big misteak, cause those old feeling came flooding back when he defended the WT policy on child abuse, I hate feeling like I am under their thumb and if I don't like, it then I am not a good person in the eyes of God, hell with that! Anyways welcome my friend to this list, their is good people here who refuse to wear rose colored glasses any longer and have WT pharaohs make bricks in the mud pits with a controled cult like happiness.

i thought they have changed in view of all the law litigations.

Well your just in time for Christmass and the pretty lights. Goodness as a kid I could not even look at the Christmass lights with out being lectured that thay are God way of finding those that will be distroyed, my parents told me such stuff. (Weird)
