Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

....entropy...Rather, it means that "nothing" is inherently unstable and will always produce something. -CL
That is nonsense. How do you know that properties of substances and conditions and the laws that describe them in the universe also apply before its formation.

Given: "The Big Bang"
Before the big bang, something (some substance) existed that exploded into the big bang.
The only thing that makes sense to me is that something must be eternal. That substance (something) is the cause and source of everything that exists.
In terms of the universe as we know it, before the big bang, nothing existed. That "nothing" can be described as or compared to something that was never born -it does not exist.

Pure energy can linger eternally in time and not know it.
Energy is a (physical ) property of an object. If the "void" had some form of energy then the void and the energy that described it always existed, hence, something always existed. And that something cannot be called nothing.
Nothing is very easy to understand. It simply means non existent, no properties, no energy -nothing.
Void is a very deceptive term to use if used to describe non existence. The term void implies something more than non existent, perhaps a condition of emptiness or vacuum.
My guess is that at some point in time nothing existed, no energy, no void,
(By the way great posts!!) -as usual.

I can't see how they could change this. (1914)
I agree. As supported by the last big WT study article citing 3 lines of evidence, etc.. (paragraphs 14, 15,16 of that article)

Prologos: virtual energy
That would mean that some form of physical substance always existed, in other words, something always existed. I do not believe that. I believe that mass and energy had a beginning. I also believe that before that, nothing existed.
If it was a "singularity" that exploded as the big bang, where did it come from and where did its proscriptive or descriptive properties that define or govern its existence come from? I guess that my guess is as good as anyone's guess.

If they owned up and said "We were WRONG,
The wt has admitted that they were wrong about their expectations and interpretations about "generation" but they stand firm on 1914, parousia, last days, Gentile Times, great tribulation coming soon and survived by the great crowd..

What exploded? something or nothing? If something then what is its substance and how long did it exist before the the big bang and what caused it to explode. If nothing then how in the world can nothing explode into something and what caused nothing to become something. -

............Great Crowd (class)......... TD
Brilliant point!
*** it-2 p. 788 Resurrection ***
this would seem to locate the gathering of this group in the last days shortly before that tribulationActs 24:15 -The WT teaches that there is going to be resurrection (on earth) of righteous and unrighteous non anointed and non gc (unless they die prematurely). Obviously, these resurrected ones are made up of people living at all points in history (except judgement and execution times) after A&E, and in spite of the heavenly calling after Jesus died.
The gc should not need a resurrection (from old age) because they should live long enough shortly before the gt.
To sum it up, we have:
1975 plus the age of eve (end of the 6000)
1914 -20 + 120 = 2014 (generation)
Daniels's collapsing image
Great Crowd 1935 -20+ 101 = 2016
"The preaching work"
According to WT teaching, everything is converging now.
To JW, whether or not the gt comes within the expected time frame is moot because they have proof from God that trumps everything.

Generation expiry date?
by pleaseresearch inhow long will it take for a jw to see that even the overlapping generation is wrong?.
the org waited and waited to see if their interpretation of it came true.
those alive in 1914 would still be alive obviously it didn't and jws have to believe in an overlapping generation.

'the Gentile Times' have in no way 'ended'. Kinda obvious to me, so any and all "generation" talk is moot. No need for "new math".
Your guess -but..
Keep in mind that in the Bible the obvious is not so obvious. Luke 17:20; Mathew 24:39
The Gentiles are doing really well
Psalms 110:2; Luke 17:28;30
Plus this whole thing: Luke 21:27-Then they will see the Son of Man arriving in a cloud with power and great glory.
Rev 14:14-16
