I did not want to start a new thread on this, but has anyone been to NYC lately? -Buildings are going up everywhere! And I mean high rise buildings and hotels EVERYWHERE! and especially in Kings county in the downtown Brooklyn area. WT move corresponds with and fits in nicely with all the construction. And by the way, the factory buildings by the BB are occupied already by commercial tenants. The area is starting to take the form of a commercial area with stores and shops with glass storefronts and signs and neon lights on the street level floors where the WT factories used to be. It is a different world!

I don't see the fairness in Russian gov. choosing ROC ( and allowing them to exist and influence people ) over WTS and other religions that said gov. does not like because ROC uses political bed-fellows to eliminate the competition.
Seems to me that WT can't loose. If Russian gov. succeeds in shutting down the WT and the other churches that compete with ROC, the move will have an extremely powerful negative impact on Russia and eventually on ROC; the rest of the modern world is looking and may correspondigly act upon Russia accordingly.
With a new gov. pending in America that favors trade with Russia, and Russia looking forward to thi$, WT cannot loose. Although the Russian gov has made it law that Russian Constitution trumps over European Court of Human Rights if WT wins in that Court if it has to go that far ( and WT can't loose ) it will ultimately be more politically and economically advantageous for Russia to allow the WT to exist in Russia than to go against the ECHR. But even if Russia, against all reason, insisted and managed to shut down WT in Russia temporarily, my bet is that it would just be only a matter of time before WT is up an running again in the "USSR."

Blood Ban Not Going Away Anytime Soon
by baldeagle inat the recent circuit assembly in our area (nov 19/2016) a talk was given in the afternoon entitled “jehovah will resurrect the dead” it’s clear that the prohibition on blood is not going away anytime soon.
many of us here have expressed the hope that this death dealing policy would be softened or become a complete conscience matter.
not the case, jw’s are urged to not give in and to focus on the resurrection hope.

organization has given written guidance to JW's working in hospitals, med-labs and other occupations that involve the use and handling of blood that clearly contradict the idea that any action done would be prohibited.
Mishnaic law teaches that a servant's hand is an extension of his master's, and a JW doing his job can do his assigned job for his employer, ask for another job, or quit; if he was in control of the situation he must act accordingly: like if it involved stealing or participating in christmas. I am sure you are aware that JW doctors can administer blood to non JW. So, in the case of handling blood for an employer, he is acting in an extensional capacity.

The NWT in not dishonest when it conveys the interpretation: not only eating blood which is at the very least what the author meant, but also all other acts connected to blood : all unauthorized use of blood. Including blood transfusions which is a WT interpretation of what eating can also mean in addition to consuming blood orally.
But because the author does not state clearly and distinctly what that action is connected to blood, the reader must conclude for himself. Perhaps the author wants the reader to conclude that it is a Biblical axiom that any unauthorized use of blood is prohibited and that is why he left out the verb. (But that would also include using blood for scientific research, antivenom, vaccines and derivative use.) One thing for sure, not eating blood is enjoined.

"In reading the command to "abstain...from blood" it is clear that something is missing: a verb. The Decree does not come right out and say, "abstain from drinking or eating blood." Yet a verb of some kind is needed to complete the thought.
TD thank you for your gracious reply to my question.
'Twas in 1990 at the Pure Language convention that wt discussed the verb or act (any action done) connected to 'abstain' in the related verse in Acts penned by legerdemain, cool hand... Luke, the beloved physician and author of said book. Funny that today doctors use the same figure of speech.

Invoking an incomplete predicate apart from the context that completes and presenting it as a complete thought is not even honest.
What do you mean?

My only agenda is finding the truth. DD
How does your post vis-à-vis wt debunk 607?
Also, have you even read "Gentile Times Reconsidered"?
How does GTR invalidate 607?

Yep... Just like they pray for new archaeological breakthroughs to support their 607 delusion...DD
DD, I have read your other posts on this Forum: You have read a watchtower. Can't you see that wt extrapolations are not derived from archeology when such mismatch the Bible.
539 BCE, the date of the conquest of Babylon by the Persians, et al, is a historical event, an undisputed fact. And according to the Bible, Israel spent 70 year in Babylonian captivity. Given the Bible, do the math.
539 BCE +70 = (609 BCE) - ( the rule of Gedaliah ) - (the time it took the remnant to trample the soil of Jerusalem) = 609- 2 years = 607 BCE. Simple math.
If you have already concluded that the Bible is delusional, suit yourself, but, 607 is not a wt delusion. It is a date computed from a fact. The conclusion from the steele that challenges 607 is not a fact.

TD, your Greek is not better than WT, but, you have made considerable interesting points about blood transfusions and blood fragments when facing death - conscious or unconscious. It would be unjust to debate with you on those subjects just for winning an argument.

fail to grasp the semantic legerdemain here.TD
It does not matter. You have already shown that a life and death decision should not depend on an interpretation subject to error.
The command should be clearly stated and the order should be thoroughly understood. Su Tzu -The Art of War.
But, if is the case that the command is clear and the order is thoroughly understood then such order must be obeyed. IT must be known with certainty that such command is coming from God,
