Fishing and JW's???
by lurkernomore inso i was just reading a thread and came across a completely new jw 'rule', that of not being allowed to go fishing!..
at least it's new to me as i always enjoyed fishing as did others in my old congregation.
anyone else heard of this or had this imposed on them in they're jw lives?.

The WT position is that it is not proper for a christian to hunt or fish for sport, but they leave it up to the conscience of the person. But they do not teach that it is wrong to fish or hunt for business or food. But they teach that it is a sin to be cruel to animals. -

Infighting at the top?
by JeffT inwe've all been trying to decipher what is going on at the top of the watchtower organization.
clearly, the game's afoot, we just don't know what game we're playing.
item: the constant harping about money and donations.

only the top 7 JW's are allowed to disagree about anything.
Is that how you think? I do not think that the "disagreement" comes from the GB among themselves. There are other powerful and solid old time non anointed players and other not so old but very solid (spiritual ) players. Do you really think that the GB are the only minds running the show? Voicing disagreement is allowed (disagreement) and disagreement is also seen by attitude. What is not allowed is disobedience and opposition. The GB comes to an agreement and implement direction but there are other players and everyone should be pulling in the same direction and when they don't it's because of disagreement. It is not about the GB out of the clear blue sky dictating direction, there is more.

The era of the charismatic GB is gone. The beloved and respected and awed old timers are no more. It appears that the new generation of leaders at the very top just do not have the same influence over their fellow contemporary subordinates and JW pubs in general as the beloved old timer heavies that are gone once did. And it does not seem that JWS want to gear up for another couple of hundred years of invisible rule and preaching and developing the org. which seems to be the case. It was a very strategical move for JW to sell all the high profile expensive properties ( or risk loosing them ) and lay low upstate.
It is a new era in JW history ( a century+ after 1914 ) and the JW leaders want people to move on from the past and have a new frame of mind but a lot of people wanted the status quo as still do as they wait for the end to realize, and not to move on with all of the implemented changes. There should be disagreement at the very top between the younger anointed leaders and same age and older subordinate non anointed leaders because the awe from such non anointed leaders is not there.
Change is not new with the WT. Lots of changes through out the years. But these new changes are monumental. Changing the music and the meetings also changes the experience of worship one felt and related to. .

It is a longer meeting and announcements are at the end of the meeting. By the end of the meeting people are tired and just want to go home and the excitement one had at the beginning of the meetings to hear news is gone. Announcements were something to look forward to during the meeting. It also served as a a mental break from the program and gave people a little extra energy for the rest of the program. -

I almost died laughing at the meeting last night. OMG WTF is going on? Have I been away this long?
by macys inok so most of you guys know already that i am going through the reinstatement process for my parents but i do have a partially sinister plan which i will not mention here since someone told me that there are b-lites that read boards like this.
last night and it was the funniest experience i have ever seen.
besides that the brother doing the sound and video screwed up the whole thing when showing the videos and it took 3 brothers to fix it after 10 minutes, the whole thing was a joke.

re-edit the entire video with a new/substitute actor
It would be easy in the vid if they had to slip in a different voice because the person behind the voice in the vid got df.
On TV when they canned Dick York and slipped in Dick Sergeant (same first name,) they thought that nobody would notice the difference. But they did!

Changing the music unlinks a person emotionally from the era. -The way things were in JW before. LIke the music that connects the experience with the ....70's 80s.... gone forever, only a memory remains when you listen to an old song and remember the way it was before. It is different now. JW wants people get detached emotionally and mentally. Thus the change because it has an affect on the thinking and emotions. -

After 17 years, I went to a KH....really shocked!!
by Prometheus inafter severe pressure from my family, i have decided to attend to the nearest kh.
and a little history regarding my self: i became inactive and lost completely contact of the wt changes and "new light" 17 years ago.. everything seemed so odd and strange during the meeting.
latest technology, animated movies, watchtower web tv, a website that you can download everything, including km and wt study articles.

For someone who has been away for so long it looked like it was another religion, The only thing that looked very familiar, and confirmed that I was in WT meeting, was that the End is still near!!!
It is not the same experience one felt before. The music, the program, everything has changed. 2016 to 2017 are very critical years. Things are not the same in the org.

What would you like to see the Watchtower Society implement that would give you a dignified way to leave/stop being a Jehovah's Witness?
by RULES & REGULATIONS injehovah's witnesses do not provide a dignified resignation process for members who wish to resign/quit being a jehovah's witnesses.you are not given any good choices.
you can either: disassociate yourself, fade, become inactive or move to another city/state/country where you won't be bothered or found out.. if you quit your job/employment, stop attending a book club or bowling league,or quit a lawn service company, newspaper delivery service, you wouldn't see your employer or friends sending out a written notice to anyone to stop all association with you or have little contact.you would sue them for slander.you have a right to quit any association or contract (when it expires or doesn't meet the terms any longer) whenever you wish.. what would you like to see the watchtower society implement that would give you a dignified way to leave/stop being a jehovah's witness?.

That is never going to happen.
Shunning is less harsh now however. But people fear the disgrace of getting df, the announcement and a df person cannot recover completely from it because it will always be part of his history record if he returns and what he did is also recorded and known. Fear of shunning keeps people in line.
Before becoming a JW, a person needs to decide then because shunning is part of what a person subscribes to when he joins and is a accepted as fellow: You marry the woman, take her home, sleep with her, then later on you change your mind and want to dump her and move on. Now wait a minute, why did you marry her to begin with. Why did you sign a contract before first reading it or why did you agree to its binding terms and now you want to back out of it without the other party having the right to enforce the terms you agreed to when you signed it.

Should doctors tell JW patients that there is disagreement about Watchtower's blood policy.
by Lee Elder inthis has been a controversial issue among doctors and medical ethicists.
i think it basically comes down to the fact that physicians have a responsibility to establish the presence of informed consent.
is it really possible for a person to give informed consent if they are not accurately informed?.

Fisherman you debunked nothing. Your assertion that you did amounts to a lie.
