  At 1 Thessalonians 4:16 the voice of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ is described as being that of an archangel, suggesting that he is, in fact, himself the archangel. This text depicts him as descending from heaven with “a commanding call.” It is only logical, therefore, that the voice expressing this commanding call be described by a word that would not diminish or detract from the great authority that Christ Jesus now has as King of kings and Lord of lords. (Mt 28:18; Re 17:14) If the designation “archangel” applied, not to Jesus Christ, but to other angels, then the reference to “an archangel’s voice” would not be appropriate.   we brainstormed a while back on this forum and pooled our knowledge on how to recognize false religion.

  i think the list is worth reviewing and adding to if possible.

  A fortune cookie once advised:

  “To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.” —Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

  I wonder if he was inspired by the Psalm: “Go subduing in the midsts of your enemies.”? referring to Jesus Christ during his invisible presence. Whatever the source, he was in China at the time when his contemporary Zechariah wrote the words God said to Zerubbabel about 600 years later: “Not by power, not by military force, but by my spirit.”

  he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

  That is an inferior position, lesser than the Majesty. That is why he is referred to as an image, a representation OF and not the majesty itself.

  TD’s Greek is valid seems to me. But the context and the rest of the Bible suggests possession here. You need to factor in all the other scriptures.

  only begotten SON.

  “The first BORN of all creation.”

  “All things were created through him.” ( not by him)

  Obviously, in Jesus’s prehuman existence, he was the first substance God directly created ( only begotten) and all things were created through Jesus . This harmonizes with the rest if the Bible.

  it suits the dignity of the scene better to imagine the loud sound to come rather from one of the heralds of the great army.

  It was through angels that God appeared to Moses and Moses addressed those angels as Jehovah, and on other occasions too angels were were addressed as Jehovah. In fact, the name Israel means to wrestle with God although Jacob only wrestled with Jehovah’s angel.( “So Jacob named the place Pe·niʹel, for he said, ‘I have seen God face-to-face..’”) Jacob did not actually see God and neither did doubting Thomas.

  Having all authority, Jesus is God by power of attorney or proxy.
