It also depends on how one is defining the return of Jesus. During Jesus first coming, he was only performing miracles and proving he was the Messiah to a few people. To the rest of the entire earth, they didn’t even know about him. And yet there he was resurrecting the dead in a prototype kingdom of God n the midst of all his enemies and nonbelievers. And to the entire earth he was nonexistent until the preaching work published the news of his work and God’s “plan” of salvation by means of the ransom. The point us thst he was present and alongside his Apostles and God accomplished his purpose wirh the rest of the world unawares. He was in their midst.

As we @ JW see it, Jesus second time around began not with his human birth but with the birth of the Messianic kingdom in the heavens and the ousting of Satan. This is his second coming ( parousia or return) or rather, the beginning of his second coming because he takes action: first in heaven and finally when he is revealed to his enemies until the end of the 1000 year reign. In the meantime, since 1914 he has been alongside those in his congregation and the preaching work.

And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things…

The idea of predicting when he would return was spoken against bt Jesus.

Depends on how you read because Daniel predicted 7x and his first coming. In M24 Jesus was referring to the climax of his parousia ( not knowing the day and hour) Obviously because nop point in keeping on the watch and he ver shows up because it ain’t the season. Also Jesus have signs pertaining to the generation of this return.

Getting back to 1914 which is the subject here, it seems logical that some of the people if not most of the people that heard the preaching message would be alive to experience the consequences of not listening like in the days of Noah—and not die of natural causes. People are born all the time and would be listening to same message 200 years after 1914 and even farther away if the gt does not happen and the preaching work would be insignificant to the people that died only to be resurrected again. In the days of Noah, people lived longer than they do now so 120 years later most people would be alive to see the end but people don’t live that long during 1914 so like in the days of Noah the end should come in the lifetime of the people who heard the message—at least it doesn’t seem logical that everybody just dies naturally and the end comes later on. In the days of Noah not taking note were swept away; in the 1st century they were massacred by the Romans and in prior times too where a preaching message was experienced such as during the era of the prophets and first temple people involved also saw and lamented their rejection of not listening. It is only logical that during the parausia it would be just like all these previous times. So here we are 108 years later born in to when the preaching work began. So what happens to the millions or more that were around when the preaching work began and took no note only to die naturally 100 years later and not swept away by armageddon? 1914 surely applies to the anointed but by the same token must also apply to those that take no note.

Daniel 9:25 predicted the date of the Messiah’s arrival (WHEN). The book of Daniel in poetic language also predicted the “second coming” —or the Parousia.

Jews were especially expecting a Messiah around 30 CE

The Book, the Son of Man by Emil Ludwig portrays Jesus as a dreamer but also describes the atmosphere in Jesus’s day as expecting the Messiah. —No doubt based on Daniel. Rabbinical Jews today view Daniel as Kethuvim and not as part of the Neviim. But it doesn’t matter because given the authenticity of Daniel in Dan 9:25 it predicts the Messiah in Jesus’s day. The book of Daniel is prophetic because it predicts the future kingdom of God. Not because wt says so but because many Jews were expecting the Messiah during Jesus but Jesus did not meet their expectations. Further, the Judaism that developed after 70CE does not represent the forms of Judaism that existed in the 2nd Temple era although today’s Juda ism survived from that Pharisaical Judaism. Of course after the rejection of Jesus, Jews took a stand in interpreting Bible verses that refer to him so they don’t apply to him but you can’t hide the sun with one finger.
