How is soon defined? months, year, years, decade, decades, 50 years, less than a century, or longer. Or does soon mean something else? What should a person conclude when they read soon?

Just read that Carl Olof Jonsson died yesterday
by slimboyfat infor newbies, who was carl olof jonsson?
he was a jw in sweden who was challenged by a householder in the 1960s, who pointed out to him that secular history books don’t agree with watchtower that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, but instead place the event 20 years later.
the reason the date is important is because it is the starting date for jw chronology which leads to 1914 as the end of the gentile times, and the beginning of the last days, as jws understand it.

Jeffro keeps reasserting his already debunked argument by “Scholar”. Reasserting his mistaken belief doesn’t validate it.

The said scholar has not only read it from cover to cover but he has studied it.
Many years ago, in all objectivity and fairness so did I so did I but I wasn’t persuaded. I wasn’t convinced. I don’t think it is possible for wt to be wrong about a 70 year desolation ending in 537.

then why does the other 70 years have to be a full 70 years? It didn’t make any sense. So I gave up
I am amazed that such a remarkably intelligent man couldn’t understand something so simple.
The decree was 70 years. Zion was the 70 year subject but other nations would also be included coming under subjugation at different points in time of the 70 year desolation of Judah which was God’s target. The premise that everybody had to serve an entire 70 years because Judah had to and because other nations didn’t have to then neither did Judah is false. I know that the respected poster SBJ understands.

586 is interpretation and may be liked like the theory of evolution ( not saying that the comparison is congruent) but 539 is a historical fact. There are 2 schools of thought but wt 607 based on Bible interpretation is also valid. And there are solid reasons to conclude that the land lay desolate 70 years to pay back it’s Sabbaths. Archeology has not debunked wt 607. It stands same as creation. There is a great thread on this forum where “Scholar”argues against the interpretation of the stele that suggest 586. Wt has published as sbf highlights that wt is fallible but that doesn’t mean wt is equivocating on 607. We’ll see what happens sooner or latter.
My sympathy to the loved ones of COJ.

1975 on the back burner
by Fisherman in“1975” still marks 6000 years from the creation of adam in wt calendar.
according to “all scriptures inspired” book, there is a gap between the creation of adam and the creation of eve and her marriage to adam.
it was at that point in time when eve was created that marked the end of the 6th creative day and the beginning of god’s rest, the 7th day as recorded in genesis.

Genesis 5:3 claims Adam was 130 when Seth was born
I don’t follow what you mean by that.

Nisan 14 or not?
by LostintheFog1999 inif jesus memorial meal is meant to follow on from the jewish passover celebration, would someone explain to me why the jehovah's witness community are holding their "lord's evening meal" on tuesday 4th april; when the jewish community are not holding their 2023 passover until the 5th april 2023?
doesn't this mean that the jehovahs have got their date wrong?.

your reason seems to be more of a desire to harmonize JW teaching
How?
Jewish calendar I linked shows the last supper was celebrated on Thursday Nisan 13 evening( Nisan 14 morning) and not on Friday Nisan 14 evening ( Nisan 15 Morning). I’ve also cited Ibn Ezra.

KGB Agent explains Ideological warfare: Destroy A Nation From The Inside Out
by Diogenesister informer kgb agent yuri mesmenov explains the concept of ideological warfare.
or how to destroy a nation from the inside out - by demoralising them within 20 years.. why 20 years?
because it takes 20 years to educate one generation of students that despite an abundance of information to the contrary, they are unable to come to a sensible conclusion in the best interests of their family, their community and their country and instead embrace the ideology of the enemy.

The (Shunned) Woman at the Well
by Sea Breeze ini always found the account of the "woman at the well" to be particulary interesting.
this unknown shunned woman of ill-repute was specifically sought out and chosen by jesus.
why?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el7dzonv3iy&ab_channel=michaelpapale.

Van,
It also hasn’t been established whether or not she was ostracized at all although I have shown that it is irrelevant because they were not Jews doing this.
But let’s have it your way Van and say the Samaritans were shunning her. The Samaritan law was irrelevant as is other religions.
Now let’s have it your way again and say that she was the Jewish woman at the well ( but that is another topic):
In that case Jewish law applied and as I pointed out before, you victimize the sinner. Also, the Jews at that time were not under grace. They were under law. So when they broke the law, they had to pay the price and follow legal provisions for the adjudication of sin. People were not free to go around deliberately breaking the law of Moses with impunity.
Under grace, there is a loving provision when a Christian commits a sin and wants to repents but there is no loving provision from the church when a christian defiantly practices sin such as living a debauched or depraved life and practices sin.
only fit to take a back seat .
WT take note.LOL Every healthy male inside the WT and out must confess that the most powerful and the most magnificent creature on earth is the female of the species. Or why do you think JW males have the “earthly hope”?

Van,
You don’t grasp that Samaritan laws were not Jewish ( you worship what you do not know) The Samaritans were not Jews. Jesus only corrected the application of Jewish law. So whether or not there were loving provisions in Samaritan apostate practices Jesus only corrected the application of Jewish beliefs and practices and laws. And whether or not it was right or wrong to for the Samaritan religion to ostracize the woman it was not the jurisdiction of Jesus to correct it therefore legitimizing the whole religion. The judging is of Judaism at that time time and not the religions of others. How the samaritans practiced their religion is totally immaterial.
