  Old is more emotional and poetic and ironic, words have more flavor and cross references are very allusory to the interpretation of prophecy .

  New is more focused on the translated meaning of the prima facie text. To your seed I will give the land is now translated to your offspring I will give the land, for example. Jehovah himself would take me up is now translated take me in which sounds less affectionate to me. And other changes as scholar pointed out in another thread. You also won’t find much cross references suggesting interpretation of prophecy for example the old cross references “ A ruin, ruin, a ruin” in Ezekiel with “never be brought to ruin” in Daniel are not linked in the new. They are unlinked. The new is a more refined translation. There are a lot of other differences.

  For example, the Bible is very poetic and says one thing and implies another. Jesus told his disciples in the 1 century to go and make disciples of all the nations and that he was with them until the end of the world but what he also meant or was implying was that (so it is today) Jesus is with his disciples today as they preach and then the end will come, the end of the world or the conclusion of this system of thing. So he returned in 1914 and invisibly with his disciples until when the son of man is revealed.

  At what point, does one become apostate to the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  at what point does a jehovah’s witness cease to be a jehovah’s witness?

  what if a witness doesn't believe some of the official teachings of the governing body but remains silent on these subjects to avoid being disfellowshipped?

  is he or she an apostate to the faith?

  Did anyone really enjoy assemblies?

  the twickenham post made me think of this.

  i have a few jw family members on facebook and being summertime, their pics of the convention have shown up in my fb feed.

  along with their comments about "i wished it would never end" or "what a glorious weekend".

  who reached an old age you told them they’d ‘never see in this system’ feel better?? I don’t think you can.

  Let’s say the timing is wrong. Is everything the Bible says about the resurrection and eternal life lies?

  pre covid attendance was always 7k+ this year 4500.. 37baptised mixed bag.

  less then half were children.. as far as patience goes, it can certainly help you be a better person when dealing with others but needless to say, this having patience waiting for jehovah is pure b.s.!

  Or it ain't his organization so he doesn't act

  That is a personal conclusion. Like when Jesus asked his disciple who they thought he was. Till this day Jews don’t believe he is the son of God. Also, Jesus didn’t go around telling people who he was but allowed people to believe whatever they like.

  What did God do when his favoured nation Israel got out of line and wouldn’t straighten up?

  He got other people to run the show. So, suppose individuals were doing things wrong inside his org, God should see to it that they are removed.

  jehovah's witnesses who leave their religion, do so for many different reasons.

  here are seven.. watchtower prophecies and dates for armageddon have failed repeatedly.

  2 They get angry, or stumbled, or fed up with how they are being dealt with unfairly.

  3 They get tired and just want to stay home.

  From an empiricist point of view, remarkable coincidences time and time again at the conventions made going enjoyable and the book releases, some dramas, talks from old gb, listening for hints about the GT, looking at attractive opposite sex and searching for a mate, the experience of JW fellowship and closeness to God. Inspite of hours and hours of sitting down and listening and waiting for the program to be over, the heat, the unbearable humidity with rain and sweat and discomfort. An assignment made the time go faster. Im talking about the large conventions. It was an experience and you had friends and socialized and new members got baptized, they served food.

  I honesty have to say that this last Patience convention was well done—take what you want out of it but it was easy to listen to and they kept your attention.

  You also have to look at conventions as worship. JW worship involves listening to discourses aka talks and not rituals jumping up and down mumbo jumbo prayers.
