*** Awake! 1969 May 22 p.15 ***
If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the 'last days' in 1914, Jesus foretold: 'This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.' Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way towards its finish, if not actually gone! This is why parents who base their lives on God's prophetic Word find it much more practical to direct their young ones into trades that do not require such long periods of additional schooling… True, those who do not understand where we are in the stream of time from God's viewpoint will call this impractical. But which is really practical: preparing yourself for a position in this world that soon will pass away? or working toward surviving this system's end and enjoying eternal life in God's righteous new order?

Do those that shun us not love us?
by logansrun init is a mistake for former jehovah's witnesses to think that just because they are shunned by friends and family, they are no longer loved.
isn't shunning a horrible experience, one borne from twisted psychological reasoning?
mandated shunning from a powerful and misguided religious organization is a great sin against both the person shunned and those who are obliged, yes obliged, to shun them.

Those that shun us do not necessarily deserve our anger, but our sympathy.
That kind of thinking disgusts me. Shunning is not different from stoning. If there weren't laws, our relatives would stone us to death. -

Watchtower miscalculation -again
by observer ini'm not sure if this has been presented here before, but this is link to some ewatchmanlike site .
http://www.jehovahsjudgment.com/essay_danielsdays_5.html.
it comments watchtower's current teaching about daniel's "2625 days" and it's miscalculation when it claims that the 2625 days lasted from "january 25 1919 to may 1926".

Daniel's Prophecy, 605 BCE or 624 BCE?
by Little Bo Peep inhello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.
i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.
i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

Page 46 refers not to his second year of his reign but the second year of his kingship as World Ruler beginning from 607 when Nebuchadnezzer destroyed Jerusalem. The second paragragh states that: "He had effectively become world ruler in 607 BCE, when Jehovah God allowed him to destroy Jerusalem and its temple. In the second year of Nebuchadnezzer's reign (kingship- Daniel 1:1; 2:1) as world ruler (606/605 BCE)".
That Watchtower's explanation is so lame..
It would be the same if I'd make a claim, that USA has now been World power about two years because not until in 2003 Saddam Hussein was deposed. -

TO ALL ELDERS AND MINISTERIAL SERVANTS IN FINLAND
Dear Brothers,
Almost hundred years ago first publishers representing the truth of Bible came to west coast of Finland and that marked the beginning of emphatic preaching of good news of Kingdom in this country. First and second generation of Publishers did meritoriously their part in that work. This is not the time for stopping still. Do you wholeheartly agree?
Overall in the world increase in amount of publishers has continued, but in Finland, like most other western countries, we have took note that the increase has turned even slight decrease. Reasons for that have been deliberated much. There are reasons that are independed from us, reasons which we cannot affect. But there are reasons that are dependend on us and to those we can affect. Those are e.g. directing to find easy way of life, materialism or achieving education. Or unreasonable time usage for pleasures, cottaging, amusements and traveling. Also lack of will for carrying the burden, lack of commitment, irresponsibleness, indolence and decline of moral standards. That kind of characteristic features for worldly have in some extent affected negatively in our activeness. What could we do?
--Published in finnish H2O by an anonymous writer (translation into english and errors by me)
..the letter continues with Hebrews 12:1 and encourages elders and ministerial servants to take lead in service.
I think those are pretty hard words about the elders and ministerial servants. Some anonymous writer who has couple of times written inside information about Bethel at finnish forum of H2O, claimed that elder bodies from congregations have in greater extent raised against "mighty orders from finnish branch office", even without fearing to be condemned as an apostate. Even one of the leading brothers (well-known here, of course) in the finnish branch office is claimed to be said "What the heck of conspiracy is going on at the congregations?" Who knows if that's true, but in the light of the recent letter, it may be..
Seems like we are living in interesting times. -

What is the next flash of New Light?
by Pole ini personally feel they will have to "adjust" the fds doctrine.
the tricky thing is that the fds (whoever they are) won't approve this change while they're still alive.
they don't care, they subconsciously feel it's their end anyway and they won't undermine their doctrinal position having lost all corporate power.. so who will send this beam of new light?

Watchtower & accepting money from government
by observer inwas there ever any printed statement about that?

some goverments give money to organized religions according theirs memberships.

Blondie & rebel8,
In Finland the government considers giving some tax collected money to sects. They do it because church of state already gets money from government, so this is for fairness.
They interviewed headman of finnish Jehovah's Witnesses in national television and he said, that "we're not begging money but if other sects are given it, we should also be given in the name of fairness".
Apparently, "fairness" towards state doesn't apply because Jehovah's Witnesses here don't carry out civilian service althought other conscientious objectors are send to jail (JW's are not jailed because they have an exempt law that frees them both military service and alternative service).
