i work with someone who is df'ed, actually my cousin.
he is trying to get reinstated.
we got into a semi-heated discussion and i gave him a lot of my anti-wt viewpoints, trying to get him to think for himself.

gen 3:22
and jehovah god said, behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever- (asv)
ok, putting aside all the trinitarian implications and the contradictory/chronological problems in genesis so as not to cloud the issue, how can this (above) be accurate?.
Robhic, this is just food for thought. I designed and erected my own commercial building. I hired some expert carpenters and these professional carpenters couldn't figure out how I was going to 'secure' steel beams on a wooden walls and how I was going to 'secure' plywood on steel beams. Experts as they are, I showed them. When I hoisted long and heavy roof trusses 'without' a crane on a two story building, they couldn't figure out how I did it. Since they were not on the scene when I hoisted the trusses with my sons, again, I explained. Just because we can't understand something or it may look stupid and impossible, somebody seems to come up with the solution. My question has always been, explain the Pyramids. Some stones have been known to weighed 200 tons and the height of the structure is awesome. YOU, ME AND OTHERS cannot explain the construction of such a wonder. We can only assume, speculate it's construction, yet, we believe without an explanation. Let just say for a moment that there were no visable Pyramids, but 'only' on paper. Would you have believed that such a wonder of the world existed because you didn't see it or can't explain it?
Here's a thought, how can you remove a (to be) transplanted tree out of the ground without a crane? If you can explain the construction of a Pyramid, you should have no problems solving this minor problem. As I said, it's only food for thought.

i'm new here, i only just found this site the other day so i don't know if i'm repeating something that has already been covered.
i'm sorry if i am.. can anyone help me on the scripture in genesis 2v9.. it says that god created two trees, the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and bad.
these were put into the garden before adam and obviously before adam and eve sinned.. if this is the case, does that mean god created bad?
Hi Laurelin, greetings and welcome. As to answering your question, stay tuned, answers will be coming your way. Enjoy the company.

Blondie, No I never met Mark in my golfing travels. Even if I did, most, if not all professions mostly talk about is golf, their equipment, etc. It's a different world on the competitive circuit, the mindset is different. You can't afford distractions and you need to control your emotions. If you watch TV, watch their demeanor, especially their lips after a golf shot.
It's a great game when you play for the fun of it. If you never plan to be a professional, just learn to enjoy the game. People who take the game seriously are not good company. The general public don't get to see what goes on behind the scenes. Some golfers just can't let go of a bad round of golf and it only makes matters worse. I've liken this forum to golfers that I have met or played with in the past forty years. If you want to improve on your game, there are certain steps that need to be taken, if not, you'll always remain a mediocre player. I'm also a professional teacher. I only teach people who want to learn, that is, learn to teach themselves. All I do is guide them, the rest is up to them. I never want any student to be dependent on me, that's not teaching. This is a different concept since most teachers want to take all the credit and be look up to. We all have talents, we just need a little guidance and a pat on the back and were on our merry way. I hope that helps.

a few months back i had a thread regarding a jw at my work and dating, .
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/64911/1.ashx.
now when i was talking to him i asked him what his reaction was to the watchtower being a member of the united nations?
Noen, the org, tried to make the excuse that it was only a 'library' card. In other words, (to them) it was no big deal so why make an issue. Those scriptural quotes I made was to call them on the carpet. My last scriptural quote hits the nail on the head. As you said, "...my point was simply that they are violating their own subjective standards..." Are you with me?
Why can't they see their hypocrisy!

have archeologist discovered the race of jesus?.
his race didn?t matter to us.
and then in genesis 24:37-38, they use my father?s house.
Excuse me, if you were drowning, what race of man would you prefer to save you? And, if that particular race on man was not conveniently there to save you, would you be willing accept another 'color' of man to save you or prefer to drown?
Didn't Jesus die for the human race?

Interesting how the org. warns it's (followers) to 'quit mixing in company with brothers who are fornicators, greedy persons, idolater, reviler, drunkard, extortioners, in fact, not eating with such a person. 1Cor. 5:9-11
2 Cor. 6:17 has even more powerful words, "Therfore get out from among them...and quit TOUCHING the UNCLEAN thing..."
The issue isn't about the library card. it's there 'touching' and 'mixing' in company with unclean things!
Romans 2:21, "Do you, however, the one teaching someone else not teach yourself?"

a friend of ours was told that he/she would be taken off as the beneficiary of a large amount of money unless he/she would come back to the meetings and go out in the field service.. our friend has been fading for quite some time now.the person who put him/her as beneficiary won't have anything to do with him/her unless he/she comes back to the meetings and participates in the field service.. he/she will not be bribed and will lose the large amount of money he/she stands to gain because of refusing to be compromised as to what is known about the society now.. his/her friend only knows that he/she has family and personal concerns as the reason he/she don't go to meetings anymore.letting the friend know the real reasons would certainly be cause for him/her to be removed as the beneficiary of a large amount of money.. our advice to him/her was to be true to ones self even though this would be financially difficult.. the reason we are putting the person as him/her is to protect the identity of the individual friend of ours.. we would appreciate some of your thoughts concerning this matter.. blueblades
When I first read this post, I said, the hell with it, but on second thoughts, why not ask further questions, why allow others to benefit from her inheritance. What does the WILL specify about her receiving any benfits? Does the Will require that she attend all meetings and service or is it a hoax? Did she make any contractual agreements?
I've been in two situations in which money was involved and I backed off. I've had second thoughts about it a number of times and I should have followed up in it. But then again, that's me. The choice is hers. She should check what the Will really specify's.

its my first post and i don't really know where to start, there been so much on my mind.
i've been reading threads on this site like crazy and obtained a copy of coc from the library yesterday.
i stayed up until 4am reading it, and i'm impressed with the way it was written - its just like reading a w only the subject matter is a little different hehe.. i'll break myself in gently with this site over time but basically a few things about me are: born in a jw family, baptized as a young teen, 1 yr aux pio, several yrs as reg pio, 1 year as 'special' full time pio at bethel.
Welcome Boa and greetings. Enjoyed reading your positive post. Since you know how the forum is played out, you should fit in comfortably.

i know..i know...y'all are probably sick to death of snow those of you who get real snow.
but, here in north texas, we seldom get "real" snow.
we typically get what they call a "wintery mix" (snow, sleet and freezing rain).
Hi Arrowstar. Yes, to my surprise I saw it on TV this morning. I guess it won't last long, correct? Did you make any snow balls? Hope things are going well with you.
