FBF, it's mind boggling to experience what you have experienced. These people are YOUR 'friends' and 'family' members? With friends like that, who needs enemies?
My only friend is my wife, the rest are acquaintances. My wife and I have a great relationship with our children, we're family.
You have my sympathy and understanding.

I NEED SOME FEEDBACK!
by snakeizz inyou guys i need help...please bear with as this is a rather long post...i had to give you guys the history of this....there still might be things i'm leaving out, but i'll explain in the future..... my sister wants me to help her plan my parent's wedding anniversary party.
they never celebrated it in the past because my dad is an idiot.
my wife and i declined to assist because of the way they have treated us in the past and because of the preferential treatment given to my sister and my fathers 7 other children.

Have Fun Applying Scriptures To The Witnesses/Organization
by minimus ini was thinking of how the watchtower always seems to be using a scripture and somehow applying it to themselves.
let's take some bible verses or passages and have a little fun with making our own interpetation........example# 1.....matthew 25: 13, "keep on the watch, therefore, because you know neither the day nor the hour"......"keep on the watch" refers to our continuous reading of the watchtower magazines and watchtower publications.
"you know neither the day or the hour" but the "faithful and discreet slave has insight into such matters and that is why we must always be on the alert and listen to them!.........example # 2.....mt.

Of the many scriptures that can be used, here's the one I often use. "...do you, however, the one teaching someone else, not teach yourself?" Romans 2:21
In short, do you practice what you preach? I believe in examples.

Snakeizz, interesting reading. Let me begin by saying, my oldest daughter is 41 years old and she's a witness. In fact, she lives next door in my building. I'm telling you this because I'm not talking through my hat.
My question to you is, how do you feel? What do you and the Mrs want to do? Both of you should sit down and discuss this situation and make up your minds, then, follow through on your decision.
I'm sorry to hear how you have been treated. Once again, discuss this matter with your mate and follow through on your decision. Remember, you now have YOUR OWN FAMILY! So, who comes first?

Do you have a humanocentric worldview?
by Norm inyou are out with your child in a field of beautiful flowers, you ask the child what purpose the flowers.
serve.
the child tell you that one of the techers has told the class that the flowers are there to make it pretty for us humans, so we can enjoy their beauty.

Norm, may I suggest you take up golf. At least you have 18 holes to play with.

I wish I had the magic words, but, I don't. I've been married for 42 years and I don't want to put a damper on your happiness.
Why isn't he up front with you or has he? As a mother to be, it's not healthy to be in your state, mentally and emotionally.
I hope for your sakes everything works out. My best wishes.

No more meetings for me!
by cyberguy inwell, after being out-of-town for nearly 2 months, i?ve decided i can no longer go to any meetings after returning home (not that i was going to that many beforehand).
i?m not sure what is happening to me, but i?ve actually developed an aversion to anything "watchtower!
" i cannot even read the literature, including current awake and watchtower magazines, without getting extremely nauseous!

Cyberguy, hey, there's couple of golf tournaments in Hawaii for the next two weeks. One in Maui and the other in Honoluluuuu.
I don't think of the org. so, I don't get nauseated. I've better things to do and think about. I've been to Hawaii eight times. Mahalo

Married People are less Creative

"a study of 280 successful scientists found that their creativity tended to diminish once they got married.
this also held true for musicians, painters and authors.

So, 280 successful scientists are telling me that I'm not creative. Hmmmmm, and just who are these 280 scientists? Do they include themselves? How succesful are they?

My wife and I have watched a couple of episodes of 'Wife Swapping.' I wouldn't know if its the same as 'Trading Spouses,' however, it's very interesting. They swap wives & families for two weeks and it's revealing.
This 'Trading Spouses' may be just among the religious couples and not like the show 'Wife swapping.' Need more info.

Not Many Brits Know That America Declared War On Us..
by Englishman inaccording to this article, the end of this particular war was the start of a strong bond, now known as a special relationship between our 2 countries.
http://www.napoleonguide.com/campaign_1812.htm.
and, ever since that date, the special relationship between britain and the usa has been totally fair and balanced with both countries giving and receiving in exactly equal amounts.. .

EMan, an elderly friend recommended that I read 'The Struggle For The Border' by Bruce Hutchinson. It actually talks about the war of 1812 in Chapter 16. I'll have to browse through it. My understanding on the war of 1812 differs, it was a needless war.

You think too much...!
by Gill indiscussing jw doctrine with my parents this week, ..sigh!...i was told by my mother that i think too much and that i should just have faith in the governing body, because it 'is a progressive organization'....sigh!...what can you say?
i told her that the wtbts was just a business and unfortunately she was in a cult and 'brainwashed'.
at this she screeched, 'me!

Go for it with a mild spirit. JW's are suppose to 'make sure of all things' what are they afraid of, the truth? Sounds interesting, keep the soap-opera going.
