Be Gentle With Me - Virgin Poster
by TheEdge inchanced upon this website a few days ago, and perhaps spent most of my waking hours (since then) reading, and certainly identifying with, quite a lot of it.
i have also learned a few things i was unaware of - i know this is ''old hat'' to all of you, but i wasn't aware of the un ngo thing.. i was saddened reading many posts - mostly trying to get human compassion (from elders who hold the trump cards - dealt by....?).
i read with interest josephus's post no.313, and goldminer's 1st posting - both drawing attention to how lives have been wasted due to false prohesy - and i thought (after reading how the society is claiming compensation for surviving - or dead!

Self love
by Cath inis there anyone out there who remembers being taught by the wt that love of the self was sinful?
if so will you please point me to a piece of literature which contains that teaching, preferably a scan if possible.
i have a vague memory of hearing something along those lines as a child and don't know if it was part of jw teaching or just something my family taught us.

Peppermint, are you sure it wasn't Whitney Houston that sang that song, 'The Greatest Love of All?'
The org. prefers that we hate ourselves so we can stay under their control! What did Jesus say were the greatest commandments? Love God, neighbor and SELF!

To fade or not to fade--Judicial question.
by FreedomFrog ini just got off the phone with one of the elders.
they said that if i do go to the jc and ask them to help me understand why they believe certain stuff and then ask for a study i will probably not get df'd.
i can "bow" down to them and do their little game if the results would help my family.. i love my family very much.

The most reliable shot in golf is to 'fade.' Mind you, that's in golf. In your case, do whatever 'floats your boat.'

I don't understand why the Jets didn't get closer to the goal line instead of passing the ball. Well, opportunity knock twice and they couldn't take advantage of it.
I thought Pitts. had the edge. Those turnovers were bad for Pitts. I'm looking forward to Pats and Colts tomorrow. Will your son be available tomorrow?
Happy for you and the Mrs.

What should we be teaching our Children?
by eyeslice indespite the lessons of thousands of years of human history, it seems that racial and religious hatred still dominates the thinking of many in this world.
the last century saw the holocaust and other atrocities of ww ii, rwanda, the killing fields, hindus against muslins during the partition of india, catholics against protestants in n. ireland, hatred by certain sections of the muslim world against the usa and list that goes on and on.
the hope i still have is that we can teach our children to think differently.

My wife and I make it a 'practice' to hug and kiss our grandchildren. Believe me, it makes a difference.

Thanks all. It was a chain letter and I thought I would share it. Apparently Gumby found the site, it blocked me out. It had to be a religious zealot sending this message around.

Gumby, mind you, since that area was the cradle of civilization you could write a book on the many things that originated from there.
I agree with you about peace, its not there. A couple of weeks ago on the Oprah Winfrey show she interviewed an Iraqi women, this women said, the news reports are not giving you the true story. She has less freedom and must stay home for safety.
I found what the Koran 9:11 had to say interesting. 911?

This came to me by way of email.
Interesting, read all the way down. What do you think?
1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq.
2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization!
3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.
4. The Tower of babel was in Iraq.
5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq.
6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq.
7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.
8. Jonah preached in Ninevah - which is in Iraq.
9. Assyria, which is Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel
10. Amos cried out in Iraq.
11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.
12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq.
13. Three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq.
14. Belshazzar, the King of babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq.
15. Nebuch, King of babylon, carried the Hebrews captive into Iraq.
16. Ezekial preached in Iraq.
17. The wise men were from Iraq.
18. Peter preached from Iraq.
19. The 'Empire of man" described in Rev. is called babylon, which was a city
in Iraq.
And you probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is uded in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesospotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.
Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible. No other Nation except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated it than Iraq. And also...This is something to think about! Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages... The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)
Koran (9:11) For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a
fearsome eagle. The wrath of the eagle would be felt
throughout the lands of Allah and lo. while some of the
people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the
wrath of the eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there
was peace.
(Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmmmmm. (Conclusion)
Did anyone get this in their email? They recommend that you send it to 13 people. Why 13?
