A well known Montreal celebrity began to serve jail time yesterday for sexually expoliting two young children. He arrived in court with his bodyguards and police. A small crowd was on hand, mostly against his actions, and because of the light sentence, some thought it was better than nothing. Others figure he should have gotten at least five years.
Surprisingly, one elderly lady said the celebrity had gone through enough negative press coverage and there was no need for any jail time!
In Quebec, a sentence 42 months jail time can be only 14 months! In the meantime he gave a death sentence to two young children, go figure.

It should be interesting. His research staff does a pretty good job in acquiring information on any topic. Yesterday's show was about consulting mediums. You would have to have seen the show for me to describe his interviews and opinions.
Bill O'Reilly never to my knowledge talk about JW's and pedophilia on his program. I'd be 'very' surprise if Dr. Phil would actually mention JW's if he does a show on cults.
I'll be waiting.

Because women realize its not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sauage.
Some friends were sitting at the bar talking about lifestyles. The first guy says "I'm a YUPPIE. You know..."Young, Urban, Professional, Peaceful, Intelligent, Ecologoist."
The second guy says "I'm a DINK. You know. "Double Income, No Kids."
The third guy says, "I'm a RUB. You know. "Rich, Urban Biker."
They turn to one women and ask her, "What are you? She replies, "I'm a WIFE. You know. Wash, Iron, F--k, Etc.
A second gal answers their question before they even ask it, "I am a BITCH."
The men laugh and ask in unison, "What exactly is a BITCH?"
The women calmly replies, "Babe In Total Control of Herself."
So ladies, next time somebody calls you a "Bitch" - SMILE:) ...and say, "Thank You!!"

Are people intrinsically good or bad?
by eyeslice inone of the things we were constantly taught as jws was that the vast majority of the world are intrinsically bad; wicked enough to warrant destruction at armageddon.. last xmas, a film "love actually" (sentimental tat really but who says we don't need sentimentality occasionally) was based on the idea that everywhere people are in love and being loved.
also, a couple of tv documentaries shown recently in uk, michael palin's 'himalaya' and ewan mcgregor's 'long way round' had these intrepid travellers visiting remote corners of the earth.
it was striking just how friendly and helpful people can be to strangers.

I deal with people on a daily basis, be it in business, politically, casually and when in competition, and let me tell you, people will indeed surprise you. Maybe in the question should have included the word, 'as a whole' intrinsically good or bad?
My view is, you chosed the right word, 'decent.'

What have you done to counteract the 'cult of Jehovah's witnesses?'
by AK - Jeff ini know that many here would place jehovah's witnesses on a list of 'cults'.
personally i don't think they meet all the standard definition - but would class them as an 'authoritarian sectarian movement'.
at any rate, most of us would not want our neighbors to get caught up in the mind-twisting that we endured and from which we finally removed ourselves.. that said - have any engaged in successfull enterprises to counter the movement?

Personally, I don't time to think about them. I'm a man on a mission and I don't need things to hinder my mission. Like sports it's just another phase and learning experience. In golf, when you finish playing the previous hole, you go to the next, the next, the next, etc until your done. Tomorrow is another new day and another new game, what's so difficult?

I Need Some Serious Help Please !!!!!!

however, i have a brother who is a jw and there is a serious problem that he is struggling with, which pertains to his horrible marriage, abusive wife, divorce and being "kicked out" of jw as a member... or whatever jw's call it.
he has been married to a woman for 22 years.

After viewing this post again, I do say, it's time to apply 'common sense.' I have a large family (bros & Sis's) not to mention my own children. I make it a practice to stay out of their personal lives. I've been involved in some serious family disputes and it wasn't worth it, let them handle the problem. If people can't use their common sense to call the authorities, then, they must suffer the consequence, this is not being rude, it's the truth. Like anything else, follow procedures.
Peterpan, you've given your bro. suggestions and nothing has changed, so, why continue? Why are YOU getting so involved when there's nothing else you can do about it? Go the police and they'll tell what they can do, NOTHING, until someone makes a complaint.
The best you can do is to wish your brother the best, encourage him, and live your life, situations like this are common to me. There's no question that both these people need help.
