//What if Micheal Moore made a documentary on the WTS
by Goldminer in.
i recently watched the 9/11farenheit documentary and found it very interesting.how much is actually true and how much is not,i don't know, but i got the impression that micheal moore is for real and trying to open people's eyes to truths we don't see.. anyways,i was just sitting there, wondering what kind of documentary he'd come up with if he decided he wanted to look into the wts.i believe it would be very interesting, and definitely an eye-opener.of course the shallow-minded jw would say it's all propaganda no matter how clear the subject was presented.. i'd love to hear your thoughts on this ...any ideas for a title?

I had been a week-end radio DJ a few years back and every time this year I would play Elvis's song, "Why Can't Everyday Be Like Christmas." I found it strange that many radio stations wouldn't play this record. Here was a JW playing a Christmas song while the believing Christmas radio stations wouldn't!
I brought this up at the coffee shop this morning and one contributor said, "its to true." Yes, when you listen to the lyrics it touches home. It would be a different world if people practiced human kindness, goodness and fellow feeling on a daily basis, why only Christmas? Are people really interested in peace and goodwill?
Being a DJ was just a hobby. In the course of those years I collected over 3000 45's and have them on file. Before my mom became a full fledged witness we celebrated Christmas, playing the record brought back memories.
Happy holidays everyone.

Gumbys Daily Text for the Day
by gumby inhello my brothers and sisters.
may god be with you this fine and lovely day.
i wanted to share something close to my heart this day and i've chosen genesis 4:14. this text shows the danger of being cast off by god if you disobey him and really get him mad.

Gumbie, didn't you know that Alfred Hitchcock wrote Genesis? Now you know why you don't know the answer to that incident, be patient, the ending or climax is awesome!

I'm afraid there are only 2 ways of being a true believin' Christian
by Zep inthe first way is to be completely ignorant.to ignore the fact that the bible is a hopelessly flawed man made document, and all other reasoned argument and evidence that points to the non existence of the christian god.
this strategy basically involves living inside mental cocoon and closing your eyes to any alternative views.
the best way to employ this tactic is to perform a whole lot repetitive and ritualistic action; a whole lot of head bowing and praying etc... etc....you know the drill!.

Zep, what's the alternative?

I feel like a punk
by lonelysheep ini recently stopped studying and haven't told the "teacher" woman the whole truth--that i don't believe the 'truth' is the truth.
i have my reasons why, and have been pondering on it for months now.
what's the best way to say this; or better yet, is there a good way to get my point across without being preached to as to why i should go on and get baptized like i had planned.

Welcome, the following is pun intended, take your situation one 'step' at a time. Seeing that your an adult and you have two children, it simply boils down to, its your choice and decision. Whenever we have differences of opinions (with JW's) we will always experience a 'negative' feedback. Your in a better position to know your circumstances. Here's hoping the best for you. Guest77

ending a "bible" study concerns
by blueztunez infirst off i'd like to say what a pleasure it is to read the threads here and to say as well that it's quite refreshing to see the milk of human kindnes shared so freely here.. i just moved back east and have been staying with my 82 year old mom who's been a jw for 35 years (she's happy as a clam).
knowing she'd appreicate the company going to the sunday meetings plus the 2 hour "school" i thought i could also form my own opinion on their "truth" ...so i did't research the "apostate web sites" till i had formed my own opinion...well 6 months (read) 125 hours at the kingdom hall later and my heart tells me that this "truth" is not for me.. the problem:.
i'd like to quit the "bible" study that sucks up 1 1\2 hours each week...but i'm wondering if "the gang" is going to put any pressure on my dear old mom (again she's 82 years old) to get me to resume my bible study ?

Greetings Bluez, gee, that was a short and sweet intro. It's very loving and thoughtful of you to consider your mother. (In exchange for birth pains, a little pain on your part shouldn't be a burden.) My mom is a JW, 90 years old and I don't make an issue about it. I got far better things to do and think about than JW's.
I love that expression, the 'milk of human kindness...' Well, had you been here in the past, you would have used a different expression. The board has taken on a gradual 'milk of human kindness.' Enjoy the forum.

Known Montreal Celebrity Sex Offender Gets 42 Months!
by Golf ina well known montreal celebrity began to serve jail time yesterday for sexually expoliting two young children.
he arrived in court with his bodyguards and police.
a small crowd was on hand, mostly against his actions, and because of the light sentence, some thought it was better than nothing.

"Brainwashing" does not exist
by logansrun inthe term "brainwashing" is sometimes thrown around this forum and i thought i'd briefly comment on it.
the idea that a group or person can actually make you think, act and feel in a certain way is highly dubious.
i'm not saying it's impossible, but i highly doubt that any ex-jws have ever experienced "brainwashing.

Whether we use, brainwashing, indoctrination, coercive measures or whatever, the end result is CONTROL.
As a professional in sports, when things are not going in the positive direction, I revert back to the basics. Professional athletes practice, practice and practice. Practice does not make perfect, it makes for better.
