A good case to be trashed out in court! I guess keeping separate from the world only applies to it's members.
James 1:27, "...and to keep oneself WITHOUT SPOT from the world."

dicovering this forum...
by Blue_Shadow ini dont know how i came across this forum but when i came to it i was so shocked of all the things being mentioned about the org.
i became doubtful of the recent decision i had made ( the big dip, which i kinda felt pressure to do but that's another story) also hearing about how jw are a cult really opened my interest.
so now that im openly informed ,im out in search of the truth behind the truth.

Spirit Directed... what exactly does that mean?
by Elsewhere inthe wts is always saying that it is "spirit directed".. what exactly does that mean?
does any of the literature ever actually define "spirit directed"?.
in the past the literature said that angels came down and told russel and ruthorford what "truth" was... then when their "truth" started to fail, the wts started using the phrase "spirit directed".. is this just a way of saying "god controls us, but we are not accountable for any errors made"?.

With all the failed prophecies, does this mean the Spirit has bad breath?

My wife's first experience
by Golf inmy wife was privately asked by her local hairdresser what she thought of jw's.
you see, her and hubby had been studying with the witnesses and he suffered an emotional breakdown.
he wanted to give all his money to the witnesses but she put a stop to it.

Thanks Little Toe & Under74. My wife was not a witness at the time of marriage. She eventually associated, but, with reservations. She always knew that something wasn't kosher about the JW's and time proved her right.
The couple I was referring to, discontinued their study and association with the witnesses after his emotional breakdown. It was a great 'relief' to the hairdresser to hear what my wife had to say. I guess she no longer has doubts.
One thing about the witnesses, they have endless stories to tell.

He wanted to give all his money to the witnesses but she put a stop to it. As you women know, there's plenty of gossip in local hair shops. Anyways, my wife said, "Their very good at brainwashing people." The hairdresser, said, I was right, their good at brainwashing people.
The hairdresser was surprise to learn how many years my wife has stopped attending meetings and associating. This was my wife'e first experienced of someone (outside the family) asking direct questions about JW's. My wife made her day!!!!!!!

How did you feel about "apostates" when you were a devout JW?
by booker-t inwhen i was a devout jw i would literally look at "apostates" picketing the assemblies and want to spit at them because i hated them that much and felt that they were of satan.
i remember one time i saw an "apostate" walking from the assembly and a friend of mine an myself were actually talking about confronting him and telling him off.
i just cannot believe how much i hated "apostates" when i was a jw.

Argument from an elder on why to not leave the JWs...
by undercover ini got an interesting reply from an elder friend when i admitted that i had issues with the wts.
i had listed the failed predictions, the changing doctrines and the mistakes made by the wts.. he came back with the examples of the israelites in the wilderness and under the various kings.
the nation of israel was still god's people despite their hardheadedness and sins.

Women in the congregation
by fairchild inthe fact that women are not allowed to address the congregation directly is something that really bothers me.
is there a bible scripture, indicating that such should be the case?
furthermore, something as simple as passing a mike cannot be done by a woman.

Fairchild, copy Blondie's reference and show it to the study conductor. I'm interested in his reaction.
My best with the book.
