I hated "signs" too. I lost a little respect for M Night Shamalayan for that one.

I don't think I would boycott him for his bigotry, he did apologize after all. I didn't see "passion" and I don't plan to. In general, I've sort of written him off as a crazy because of that movie. If I get the impression I'm about to be preached to, I just don't go there. With mel gibson, after all of that, I would guess his movies will have a spiritual message of some sort, which I don't want to hear. I get enough of that every where else.

Rejecting God or rejecting religion?
by kojo ini have read many posts on here and on other websites from people who were brought up or became immersed in a particular religion or belief system, who later ,often because of bad experiences with their religion, went to the opposite extreme of not believing in god at all.
this often puzzles me because i wonder if people who reject a belief in god because of the hypocrisies they experienced in their former belief really are rejecting god or just a man-made organization which claims to be god's spokesman and has shown to be anything but.. i was raised in a presbyterian church which is about as traditional and conservative as you can get and my image of god was molded by that belief.
i saw the services and people there as dead basically.

sometimes I have a really good cry and feel at peace afterwards. It's another sort of physical release - the other kind is good too. I didn't know it was the power of god working in me, I thought it was a physical and emotional reaction, but I guess that's just one more area where I have fallen "short".
I wish I had a dollar for every person with a similar story saying those who don't believe in god or don't know what they believe just haven't experienced "it" yet.
The only thing I know is that I don't know anything with certainty and I'm never going to, and neither does anyone else. So this sort of post/thread just isn't relevant anymore to me.

Moving on...
by Zico ini've been reading this board regularly since it was introduced to me in march of this year.
at first, i was finding it pretty difficult coming to terms with the fact that my whole life had been a lie, but really, i suppose there's not much point in worrying about this now, what's done is done, and i'm still easily young enough to make a life in 'the world' despite a slow start.
the problem is that i have no idea how to go about.

I would suggest a few things to make your transition a little easier.
1) don't "make" your time. the best way to stop pioneering is to have them make you stop because you weren't making your time any more. remember, pioneering is a privilege, not a right. ;)
2) slowly make friends outside the Kingdom hall, through work, hobbies, or school.
It should be easy enough to give the message that you are looking out for your future abilities to care for yourself and for a family, should you have one. If you are a man, that should be no problem.
It could take awhile from going from pioneer to.... someone like me. Just be forwarned. Either way you do it, ripping off the bandaid or pulling it off slowly, it still stings. It depends on your particular circumstances. You have to look out for your own best interests here, so do it however would be best for you. Leaving abruptly has its good and bad side effects, as does long-term fading.
Fading is much harder than you would think. The more time passes, the harder it is to keep all of this information to yourself, and the more absurd it all seems. It gets really hard to hide your new attitude... that's the worst part.
Good luck!

well, if the last days began in 1914, then how long will the last hours last? 50 years? 100 years? Oh, I'm real scared. tell her you are going to wait until, not the last minutes, but the last seconds, which should be announced sometime in your old age.

I fool around with Tarot cards, just for fun. I don't think they hold any kind of power or anything like that, but I think it's fun to see what kind of suggestions they have for situations. It can seem like they are really magical sometimes, but it's probably how it's set up to seem, since the different cards can have so many different meanings.
Anyway, what I wanted to say was I think you should have asked for guidance in making this particular decision, not ask what decision to make. Because the card meanings are usually vague and there's rarely a card that will tell you something that directly.
Good luck with your decision and have fun with the cards! It's the only "spiritual" thing I ever do and I don't know if it counts if I don't really believe in it or not, but I like the way it freaks out my Christian friends.

Interesting developments
by SickofLies inhello everyone, remember me?
for those of you who are new i produced a documentary on disfellowshiping in the kingdom hall.
the interesting thing is that i was df'ed not for committing and 'gross' sin, as you might think, but i was df'ed of litterally asking to many questions.. anyway, i've heard the following news co's and do's in the us are talking about my case, i have been barred from ever entering a kingdom hall again (police notice was enfocred on me) and for some reason i have been getting calls from elders from the hall i was booted out of lately (i have not returned or answered the calls as of yet).

you must have done something right, then!
And you started a trend. Another poster, Rassillon, said he was approached for a meeting and wanted to record it and they refused. I think they are going to start seeing this happen more often, enough to have to ask before speaking to anyone, "is this conversation being recorded in any way?"
Pathetic.

Do Not Call refers to telemarketers on the phone, right?
