hello friends.
i have been away from the forum for a while and just wanted to drop in to say a quick hi to all.. i was looking through some of the posts and remembering how i felt a couple of years ago when my entire family walked away from the borg, and the reasons for leaving.
there was so much hurt and sadness, confusion and anger, and of course fear!.
just wanted to share a bit of positive and hope with you. For anyone out there who feels like things are never going to be right in life because of the effects of the WTS...............don't feel helpless or lost. Look for the light and joy in life, it is there. Time is a great healer and allow people who can assist in your healing to touch your life.
Thanks for the encouragement... some times it's tough and other times it's just fine. I guess that goes with the territory. That's great advice!
do you think its right to ridicule jws on this forum or reason with them?

It's true, we sometimes ridicule. It may seem wrong to some people. As it does to me when the Watchtower conductor ridicules "worldly thinking". Everyone laughs, but not me. I guess it depends on what your mental perspective is.
This rarely happens, so it's not a huge problem, but what I think is out of control is people talk about geting so angry at Witnesses they see preaching they would like to do bodily harm to them, or speak abusively to them. I've seen a post out here where someone said they see a Witness woman on the subway every morning at the same place and seeing her every day stirs up intense anger, guilt, whatever, and they wished they could kick her. Very disappointing IMO. We were all once just like the Witness woman in the subway. Would we want to have been kicked, or even screamed at? Mentioning those types of sentiments out here really shows how far a person still needs to grow, and can really give the wrong impression to a lurking JW honestly looking for support.
Not like we should be "scolded" to not "stumble" others or anything (bad flashback, I know). So many people here really focus on using this board to help JWs find their way out, and it's comments like that one above that makes you wonder if others are undoing the time and effort they spend.
Oh, well. So it is on any internet community, I suppose.

this is absolutely horrible.....the sound of him screaming just makes me ill.
Oh, yes. Play the "you're just like those stinking JWs" card, too, while you're at it... What else have you got?

I do however know that the blame game must stop; people need to realize that the soldiers who committed these abuses are a few in a million and Americans have been labeled animals. Yet, when the reality of this mans death hits the news we again are ostracized because we dared to show what happened to one of our own.
I see your point here, Cassi. I replied before having heard the audio byte myself, and before really thinking about it. The more info we can have about all of the issues the media is presenting is probably a good thing, helps us to be better informed. I'm still not very clear on what happened with the prisoners, though, as in the gory details, so what does that say?
I guess I jumped on this because of what I perceived as media spin, because I just hope it isn't used as an excuse to "retaliate" on parties not involved in it. I would hate to see that happen (again).

I'm still trying to figure it all out. I'm having a hard time with the concept of believing anything too soon, without really researching it first, so I'm coming up with nothing definite so far. I have more of an agnostic viewpoint, leaning hard toward atheistic skepticism, if that makes any sense.
I figure I've got a lot of time left to figure it all out. If my time comes too soon, and I must answer for it to the Christian god, then I hope he understands.

I haven't read all the replies, so I hope this hasn't already been said, but....
Blood transfusions are defined as "consuming", as in eating, blood. This is because if a person was unable to eat they could be fed intravenously. But is this the way humans usually would eat? No.
IMO they it's more like an organ transplant. Are organ transplants allowed? If so, their logic is way off.

That's a good observation.
When are they going to let go of this piece of the absurdity puzzle? My opinion is they can't or else there would be a stampede of lukewarmies running for the exit.

if a couple cannot have a child, is the only acceptable option adoption?.
I can't see them passing up an opportunity to exert their authoritai over the flock in this new way... I hadn't heard anything specific but I hadn't been watching for it.
