Have you had enough attention yet? Do you feel better now? I don't know what's more sad. Active JWs trying to shame us into going back or so-called exJWs working out their frustrations with cowardly internet aggression. Hmm. Smelly doesn't strike me as the happy-go-lucky type he claims to be.

what I still don't understand is, if smelly onions isn't bitter, doesn't need any support, etc. why did he join JWD? He obviously doesn't understand why anyone else would need support, so what's he doing? counting his time?
I'm really happy for smelly that he doesn't have any problems, and I wish everyone associated here didn't ever have any problems, but this smelly cat sounds like he needs to do a little growing up.
after years of waiting, i finally turned 18. i remember distinctly that my mother said during an argument that i would not have to attend meetings once i turned 18. well that was a lie.
she denied ever having said such, and pulled the "under my roof" card.
so now she is saying i have to continue attending meetings until i move out.
Yep. You can kiss ass and kow tow and pretend to be someone that you're not. You can sit through the meetings and go out in service to please your mom and remain safely under her roof. You can live a lie for room and board and maybe a hot meal once or twice a day. OR you can stand up and be a man. If she kicks your ass out of her house, so be it. I've been on this board long enough, and I've read enough, to realize that "fading" is, in most instances, the pussy way out.
So, the only way to be a "man" is to do what Sith tells you to do. However, Sith will not be there for you while you are "living with the consequences", but you will have the warm fuzzy feeling of not labeling yourself a "pussy" for not doing exactly what Sith tells you to do.
I don't know about anybody else, but in my opinion, the fading calls for a lot of strength and it's a lot tougher than letting go and moving on. I've been fading for a long time and let me tell you, people will say to leave right away, don't fade, fading is harder. And I didn't believe them, but I now I know they were right. It is harder. It takes a lot of mental strength to do it and lots of patience. It isn't for pussies. I don't know what makes people say things like this except they must still feel a lot of rage over how they are treated by their families, and they resent others who don't have the same problems.
If you can, and if it works with planning what you want to do with your life (like college), save some money and leave the situation as soon as possible. Don't waste any opportunities screwing around in the mean time, even if that's what other people your age are doing. Remember whatever you decide, you are going to be ok. Whether you leave tomorrow and find it tough to get by for a while or whether you stay for awhile, you are going to be ok. Either decision is going to be tough to carry out. She's forcing you into a corner with this type of financial abuse, and you've got difficult times ahead either way.
Also, you only mentioned your mom. Does your dad figure into this in any way that could be useful?

the stuff on the news is fascinating me, so i just had to start a thread about it.. yesterday i saw online at the guardian that tom cruise had hired some sort of cult bodyguard (tongue in cheek) to accompany his new girlfriend (katie holmes, an actress) around to continue her inculcation into scientology.
they are allegedly saying they're best friends now, though they met very recently.. i'm now reading the 6/17 issue of entertainment weekly magazine.
it says:he had a scientology massage tent on the set of his newest movie (his retort is he had a capuccino tent too)he compares psychiatry to nazis and claims jung (famous psychiatrist) was editor for nazi papers (a claim a jungian group denies)he says methadone was named after hitler (also refuted by the magazine)he slams brooke shields for using anti-depressants
Tom Cruise is a lop of sh!t. Instead of using his fame and fortune for positive things, he uses it to help a cult ensnare new victims. All ex-JWs should boycott films starring this jackass. Next time I'm in Hollywood, I'm going to spit on his star.
Yeah, I pretty much boycotted him, the girl from cheers, Travolta, and now I guess I'll be boycotting this Katie Holmes girl. And I used to really like her. Too bad.
But, if she can't, or won't, try to figure it out after all the negative comments about Scientology popping up all over since this romance started up, then it's her own fault.
Anyway, I think she's doing all this for the publicity. She gets to be another ex-wife of Tom Cruise and hopes to have a career like Nicole's. I don't buy into it for a second that she's really that stupid.

I always like to think they are the average JDub behind in their hours for the month, and I like to tell them that... but it's just trolls. They are people who need to work out some agression and unhappiness, even though they are Jehovah's happy people, they come here to push buttons. Maybe they are jealous of us. Can you imagine what kind of person they are to other JWs? Don't even want to know.

I am with Min on this instance. So many people, usually women I have known , {admitedly dubs] claim to have an "instinct" for knowing people and judging them accordingly. I have known them be spectacularly wrong but that does not stop them. Of course it possible to be peceptive but then one is reading give away signs by observation - I guess that is different because one could explain why the judgement was formed.
Women have their gut feelings, but it's virtually impossible for a man's gut to win an argument with his penis, which is why men cannot form a rational opinion about a woman he wants to sleep with.
i have been reading over everyones posts from the dc and it made me remember a few things:.
the drama: they definately were discouraging going to collage.
timothy had a friend named jonathon that pursued "worldly goals"- getting an education, getting a good job and getting married and having kids.
she also said that they mentioned that doctors now feel that humans actually need their appendixes and tonsils, showing how wonderfully we are made. which is a non sequitur, of course, but how would they know it is? and i am not even so sure about the tonsil and appendix "facts". i will have to do some research on it.
I put this question out on another forum and got some pretty good information back. The WTS's argument really doesn't hold up. Hmm, that's a big surprise. Here's some of what I got...
Humans don't need their tonsils and appendixes and live just fine without them. Doctors have not changed their opinions on this.
The premise of the argument the WTS is using is that scientists have long considered vestigial organs as completely useless. But, "vestigial" doesn't mean that -- it means an organ's function doesn't work for humans the way it would have needed to work in our ancestors, as in the case of the appendix would have been used by our ancestors to digest foods like grass, much different from our diets. "Vestigial" is all about organs that served different purposes throughout time. As a result, the function of the tonsils and appendix is not important to our health, although these organs are still functioning on some level. Scientific opinion regarding the tonsils and appendix has not changed.
The existence of vestigial organs is still an argument against creationism, which is why there are so many creationist oriented sites online using the same argument the WTS is using. What the creationists are doing is telling people vestigial means no function and if there is any small hint of function for these organs, they are telling us the organs are not vestigial after all. I guess this is the straw man fallacy. It's also interesting they focus on the tonsils and the appendix, but these are just 2 of many vestigial organs in humans, not to mention the vestigial organs found in many other animal species.
