Scientology & Tom Cruise

The stuff on the news is fascinating me, so I just had to start a thread about it.

Yesterday I saw online at the Guardian that Tom Cruise had hired some sort of cult bodyguard (tongue in cheek) to accompany his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes, an actress) around to continue her inculcation into Scientology. They are allegedly saying they're best friends now, though they met very recently.

I'm now reading the 6/17 issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. It says:

he had a Scientology massage tent on the set of his newest movie (his retort is he had a capuccino tent too)
he compares psychiatry to Nazis and claims Jung (famous psychiatrist) was editor for Nazi papers (a claim a Jungian group denies)
he says methadone was named after Hitler (also refuted by the magazine)
he slams Brooke Shields for using anti-depressants

It would be great if the whole Tom Cruise thing caused even one dub to think about their own situation.

Scientology strikes me as being a caricature of a cult - a joke. I am continually amazed that people fall for it. But, then I guess others are amazed that people fall for the JWs.

The Tom Cruise situation might be good for dubs because they can compare him to Prince and the Williams sisters and realize that just because a person is celebrety doesn't mean they have flying clue on the origin of life. Sadly though, most dubs will never put two and two together.

In return they promise to give the secret techniques that lead to being clear of all problems. They are relentless in financially sucking you dry and suing anybody who prints articles against them. www.factnet.org I believe is run by a guy who successfully sued Scientologists. There's a news article on their site about someone giving a large donation in response to the Tom/Katie drama.

Pretty scary stuff. If somebody high-profile like Cruise or Travolta did come to believe it was junk and break away, they'd probably be afraid to say so.

Tom Cruise is a lop of sh!t. Instead of using his fame and fortune for positive things, he uses it to help a cult ensnare new victims. All ex-JWs should boycott films starring this jackass. Next time I'm in Hollywood, I'm going to spit on his star.

Laying into Brooke Shields like that was bizarre, never mind the reason, it was just so out of the blue. Tom Cruise is out of his mind.
