The Watchtower Society, not Amazing, is the Laurel and Hardy jokester. Not impossibly they may resort to a renewed endtime prediction but if so not until sometime after the current child sex abuse scandal which nixes the 2005 possibility but the 2075 one would be more plausible. Right they they are hunkering down trying to survive, fearful of organized schisms, loss of money from donors. Amazing's bringing this up is good.

New Dates to help WTS
by Amazing innot that anyone would want to help the wts shore up its prophetic speculations, and continue to perpetrate their fanciful but idiotic schemes ... nevertheless ... in an effort to salvage their biblical dreams, and escape their current embarassments and false prophecies, one might see them in the near future pull off something like the following.. you eyes might glaze over ... but this is short:.
the 2nd temple was started by zerubabel in 517 bc and completed and dedicated in 515 bc.
the wts could easily make this 2nd temple a symbolic 'anti-type' representing the renewed, rebuilt condition of 'spiritual israel' the anointed 144,000 ... and then take the 2,520 years spoken of by daniel, from the date of the dedication of the 2nd temple, and voom ... boom ... flash ... zap ... we arrive at 2005 ad for the establishment of the 'completed and dedicated' spiritual anti-type temple in heaven ... to eventually be occupied by the temple class.. add to this, the walls of jerusalem, built to protect the city outside the 2nd temple and its people, were not completed until 445 bc ... this commenced the 70 weeks until the messiah would arrive, according to daniel.

WTS supports The Guardian
by ozziepost inthe april 22 issue of awake!
contains no less than 5 quotations from the guardian newspaper of the uk.. you may recall that the guardian's religious affairs editor wrote some very revealing articles about the wts and its ngo status in the un.
remember how the wts pr department issued a statement defending their position and how they corresponded with stephen bates and reminded us all that the wts views the guardian as a serious, factual and reliable newspaper that it quotes regularly?

What they are doing in Brooklyn is thumbing their noses at Stephen Bates. They are showing him they can quote from his own paper all they want to so long as not at undue length or as to deprive the Guardian paper of money etc. They are at the same time trying to cast doubt on his having locked horns with them, to make people wonder if just somehow they might in fact be sweethearts of if not him then those who are over him. This would drive a wedge between Bates and those of us passing along information to him. They tried the same thing recently with regard to Bill Bowen. They sought to make it appear NBC management would gladly sacrifice the documentary Dateline had prepared to keep in Brooklyn's good graces. It's all in all another sign of their desperation, sly and cunning machinations, which is however pathetically transparent. Last ditch death throes of an old dragon.

If either I myself or the original poster whom I said wrote that Yate's husband was the one on the Letterman show then I am happy to apologize here and now. No problem. Done deal. You see, unlike the WTS I can apologize for no intent was made to "mislead" on anything. That the Slack, Buttons, Smith and other cases exist more than illustrate the point that the WTS is a major if not the major component of false Christianity or Babylonish religion today. Now let those readers who are pro-Watchtower ask Henschel and company to say how sorry they are they have destroyed and even taken many lives due to their lies and deceptions which are definitely DELIBERATE.

Leadership is missing among the xJWs!
by IslandWoman ini know the word, "organization" has a bad taste.
but it is a fact of life that to get anything done on a grand scale in this world, good leadership and organization are a must.. we lack organization, much of what is said and done is a hit and miss thing except for the u.n. problem.
thanks to those who took a lead and the others who followed their lead some damn good work got done!

Island Woman, those above are full of beans. If a group of even 3-5 good ex-JWs, even those never elders and females for example, formed a schism then some of the other numerous exJWs would join with them and it would grow although the WTS would try to insert moles and be spying breathlessly as soon as the first press releases etc got out.
It is NOT impossible to organize some but is to organize all. I recommend you get together with some friends and do it. This board is controlled by those of already existing churches who have a vested interest in no new competition. Or as an option join our informal fellowship called the Free Christians where association is by love instead of sameness in doctrines. (contact [email protected])There are also many atheists here who are militantly against any new religious group whatsoever (see some above), though there are also friendly atheists who could care less one way or another.
If you do organize by getting national press coverage at a news conference and by sending release to papers etc, then I recommend that you organize independent but cooperative house-churches. Everytime an organization is set up as a top-down hierarchy (Catholic Church, WTS etc) making decisions over the rest instead of where local servants are in charge but have agreed to a set of basic beliefs, then such concentration of power at the top is too much, corrupts those having it and leads to tyranny of those at the bottom. In the arrangement used by most churches that are Protestant, all are equals except that they are headed by Christ. Read Mt 23:10.
Now that's worked over 400 years for most of those and many believe this was the arrangement the earliest Christians enjoyed, much more family-like, more a Way of Life in God than an imperfect human organization. The True Organization remains in heaven though on earth there is an arrangment for orderliness with kindness. Do you see?
So ignore all the negatives of those who run this board (and no I don't just mean Simon) and push ahead. If you fail then others will try until there is success. However, again, our Free Christians group needs your consideration. We do have it set up already as I've described though it is relatively informal. About 900 people get 2-3 emailed newsletter every few days and those include a weekly Bible reading for associating individuals and groups earthwide. Some of those in turn share what they get.
Let there be not one but many new fellowships. Want one of your own to be able to affect more good, then get busy. Don't be asking permission for it from those who will alway nay-say it. Just do it, Island. Understand?

Need Help! About Blood Transfusion
by Marvin Shilmer innot too long ago i read a news story on this forum about deaths due to medical errors in australian hospitals.
i think it had something to do with statistics generated by some minister in a department of health in australia.
part of the article cited numbers of deaths (or errors) due to blood transfusions and a conclusion that transfusions were given more often then medically necessary.

1 Samuel 14:32-4 says Saul's whole army ate unbled men to stay alive and later Saul had them build an altar to show sorrow they had had to eat some blood but nowhere does it say Jehovah condemned them
Matthew 12 has Christ saying "God wants mercy not sacrifice" and relating that though David's men ate temple holy bread to stay alive they were not punished for it due to the extenuating circumstances
Watchtowerites make much of a verse saying Jehovah is not exempting wrongdoing while ignoring mercy and the fact that in the end we all pay for various sins by death from which only Christ resurrects
Saying I'm sorry but the need to save real life outweighed not using blood (the symbol of life) is both understandable and forgiveable to our loving God and creator just as it is to reasonable humans

Searching for a Child Abuser
by YoYoMama ini heard this weekend that a convicted child abuser was murdered in jail.
i knew him but i don't remember his first name.
we were in the same congregation together for a few weeks.

YoYo, can you tell any other details by which we might search for information about this on the internet? If not, but later something comes to mind, please email it to [email protected]. All such information is being compiled as a loving provision of Jehovah's real organization which is in heaven, not one of imperfect human's organizations on earth. Such men fight against Jehovah themselves by raping children, and his murderer also did wrong. Their final judgment will be from Jah and His Christ.

What has been the WTBS stance on the UN?
by Leander ini have'nt really been to this site for a few months and i'm wondering if the wtbs have officially aknowledged their involement with the un.. also how are they handling phone calls when people ask if they have been with the un?
-

They acknowledged it by claimed it was only for doing library research even though many websites them attending UN sponsored humans rights commission meetings and the like etc. That they were definitely a Non-Governmental Organization in a formal capacity was proved by material on UN websites and items they had had to use in Awake articles to keep that liason. When this was exposed they quit the UN after 10 years of the secret liason they had had even while continuing to lambast the UN to elders and rank-and-file, then tried the library card dodge. For links see http://www.observer.org and http://www.freeminds.org and use the search box on this website as well. As to phone calls those posting about this indicate they have responded courteously after getting the name of the callers, their congregation if any etc, but thereafter gone into the library card dodge and said it's just lies from apostates. But again there is now a wealth of proof for those with open minds.

True, Kist. Also that reminds me that Kent Steinhaug has said that Marc Dutroux was also a JW though I don't think he (Kent) ever posted that on his observer.org website. Dutroux was a serial killer and pedophile I believe in Belgium. His deeds are regarded the worst crimes in Belgium's entire history. We seem to be on a roll tonight.

To whoever mentioned Susan Smith, I had forgotten about that tragedy and the JW connection which was that her husband had studied with JWs but never was baptized as one. That's stunning. So many tie-ins. Then there was also the Captain Craig Buttons incident in which Buttons was raised a JW but never baptized then after his JW parents came talking to him he hopped in a jet and slammed it into a mountain, suiciding. Again, Truth works best. Now lest anyone complain that I use two screen names, as I said on another string before, big deal, some of you use 2 or more so that you can post more as necessary and Bruce has at least 6 that I've seen in the directory.
Thanks for giving me more opportunities to respond and expose this horrendous mental health problem further: Yates, Smith, Buttons.... -

Sam, it was posted on another thread some days ago that he was on a late night show I believe with David Letterman and Letterman asked if it was true that he had been a JW, and he then said yes. I have no need to make up anything. These are facts. Facts are far more powerful than fabrications, so I use the strongest ammo: the Real Truth. And since you want to attack me let me repeat that though Lee Elder has done much good with the ajwrb.org website in 2001 was a relative dearth of activity by the ajwrb if not due to his take a break then possibly because Wayne went to sleep.
